thats even if you find a decent one. I hardly use any mods from the beamng repo... but then you have a bunch of lame patreon $$ mods in there too. I don't use that much of that stuff just the multiplayer mod really... the repo was a lot cooler 5-6 years ago without all the patreon bs. I got familiar with notepad and Blender and keep everything to myself. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Except I do, ModsGaming is the GOAT. And if you want real cars like BMWs, Lamborghinis etc. you don´t get those from the official sources.
That is false, there is some really talented people doing that stuff. Like openable mods, customisable interiors, working dials, clocks, lights, everything. My vehicles directory is 230gigs and no "infections".
Maybe it´s time to open your eyes and think outside of the box. I promise you get 80% more out of your game.
(there are some exceptions, however)

And yeah he mostly uses the official BeamNG Forum exclusively as well.
I wouldn't recommend any 3rd. Party site under any Circumstance since their moderation is often times awfull, and BeamNG is interested in good moderation since it could come back and bite them in their asses if they don't.
