I hope that the next release will fix all the Vulkan bugs/issues and hopefully will make the game run much better.
I still use the Normal version more often because there's less issues with it.
And why did they make this Vulkan engine thing?
Yeah I had thought of that. Only reason I have it is so that I can record the last 30 seconds :)
While BeamNG uses DirectX11 by default, Vulkan is fairly similar to DirectX12 instead. It is a fork of the OpenGL API and is based on AMD's Mantel API. Both Vulkan and DX12 are "low level" APIs which means they are closer to the hardware with less other software in between, so in theory there should be less overhead and better performance. Both Vulkan and DX12 are better at utilizing multi-core CPUs than DX11. Therefore, Vulkan should be the better choice for most users since it's actually an improvement over DX11.
To sum it up, here's the statement of the developers from June 30, 2021:
As the launcher itself states, however, it is experimental for now and hopefully should improve eventually. Your results may therefore vary.
Does the Vulkan engine reduce the amount of memory being used up?
There has been many times where it says "Over 80% of your memory is being used up"
Me too, I think that would be for most games where there's a lot going on. I've seen YouTube videos where the FPS reduces by about 30 when the player goes into a crowded area or in a town somewhere, whereas in the desert, there's not a lot to render.
I was pleased with Vulkan when I first started but after a while, it seemed to struggle.
Is there a vehicle mod that is specifically made for traffic? less moving parts and more for like atmospheric purposes?
Im looking to put in a lot of vehicles in a scenario i want to make...
I'm not sure really. It's worth checking out the mods website.
okay but update me if you find it!
Do you have any mods installed yet?
People have requested the traffic thing before but the issue is that with updates, it could break or cause problems with the mods.
What are you talking about?
All i said is to update me when you find a low poly model of a car or something...you dont even have to search! im gonna do it
There is an option in beam for using les details car for ai/traffic.
Also, there is an option for the ai/traffic only using default vehicles not the mods you have.
