the game is a lot more than a crash simulator
As the previous author stated, the game is a lot more than a crash simulator, even if it's good at this part. It's a good sandbox driving simulation. May not be perfect, but it's good, with the prospect of becoming even better with further development.
Police chases are a very promising idea (due to the game's physics, both when it comes to driving and damage simulation) if the developers implement improved AI and various interesting scenarios, or even an entire, separate career modes (in addition to a "normal" one) based around police chases, one focused on being the law enforcement, while the other concentrated on escaping the chase. One can still enjoy police chases in the current state, but there's much room for improvement at the moment.
By the way, who would fancy street racing while escaping police chases at the same time, like one of the famous game series did in the past (possibly including the twist that after the race finishes and you are still in a police chase, you cannot just quit, you have to escape the chase or get caught)? That would be more interesting than one may handle. And would definitely be exciting in BeamNG.drive. Just imagine trying to win a race when the police is trying to stop you (and your competitors as well, of course). I imagine it would fry potato PCs though.
Are there races between you and other cars? When you say you make your own configuration, is there a mechanic system in the game? even a simple one? Is it possible to repair our own cars, is there a wear and tear system on car parts? Can you fine tune your engine? Etc
In fact I have a lot of question about this game and they keep me on the fence to buy it, since the content we see on internet is always the same crash videos.
Still trying to decide if I want to give it a go.
Strong argument here. I'm in, and you're right, it's fun :) thanks
this is exactly how I got to 1000 hours, could not agree more
So, the game is great for hotlappers, and the car tuning is insanely detailed as well. Plus there are lots of fun and challenging scenarios. Free roaming through the desert in a trophy truck is more fun than you can imagine too. That's how I have spent 80 hours so far. Also occasionally crashing, of course.
