What do you do in this game
I think I have seen some instagram videos from this, at least that was claimed.

What do you actually do...choereograph car crashes?

How do you spend your time? What makes the game fun? Is it even a game?

I generally just customise cars and drive them around, the WIP career mode can be fun to play for a bit as well

the game is a lot more than a crash simulator

Yes, this is a game, and it's a sandbox game, that is: you do what you want to do with the content provided. You can run time trials or try to make your own configurations that beat vanilla ones in time trials, for instance. The latter may pose some challenge though.

As the previous author stated, the game is a lot more than a crash simulator, even if it's good at this part. It's a good sandbox driving simulation. May not be perfect, but it's good, with the prospect of becoming even better with further development.

Police chases are a very promising idea (due to the game's physics, both when it comes to driving and damage simulation) if the developers implement improved AI and various interesting scenarios, or even an entire, separate career modes (in addition to a "normal" one) based around police chases, one focused on being the law enforcement, while the other concentrated on escaping the chase. One can still enjoy police chases in the current state, but there's much room for improvement at the moment.

By the way, who would fancy street racing while escaping police chases at the same time, like one of the famous game series did in the past (possibly including the twist that after the race finishes and you are still in a police chase, you cannot just quit, you have to escape the chase or get caught)? That would be more interesting than one may handle. And would definitely be exciting in BeamNG.drive. Just imagine trying to win a race when the police is trying to stop you (and your competitors as well, of course). I imagine it would fry potato PCs though.

That's a question I ask myself. I've only seen tons of videos where people crashing cars or making insane jumps on gigantic ramps.
Are there races between you and other cars? When you say you make your own configuration, is there a mechanic system in the game? even a simple one? Is it possible to repair our own cars, is there a wear and tear system on car parts? Can you fine tune your engine? Etc
In fact I have a lot of question about this game and they keep me on the fence to buy it, since the content we see on internet is always the same crash videos.

Its a driving sim with good crash physics. You can race, build out cars, crash, or just cruise. There's a lot of customization with each car (motors, wheels, body panels, suspension). Its a good way to waste an hour or so every now and then. Not a game you grind for 10+ hours but one you go to when you want to mess around and have a lil fun.

Most of time i just love to drive around and enjoy amazing physics, i always loved car games with good driving models and good damage system - this game is basically my childhood dream come true to be honest.

It's not a game in the traditional sense. There are no real goals. It's a sandbox that you just play around in, although that could change somewhat if they get Career Mode fleshed out a bit more.

Thanks for the responses!

Still trying to decide if I want to give it a go.

Strong argument here. I'm in, and you're right, it's fun :) thanks

this is exactly how I got to 1000 hours, could not agree more

I think I can add to this as someone with a billion hours in various driving sims. The physics aren't just good for crashing, they are good full stop. Tire physics are still a bit weird, steering with a controller is still a bit weird, but aside from that the driving experience is incredible. I spend hours just turning laps on the laser scanned version of the Nurburgring from Assetto Corsa, and the amount of detail you can feel through the car is genuinely insane. The way every part of the suspension and chassis flexes, and it effects your grip in a way that just feels right. No other simulator has that.
So, the game is great for hotlappers, and the car tuning is insanely detailed as well. Plus there are lots of fun and challenging scenarios. Free roaming through the desert in a trophy truck is more fun than you can imagine too. That's how I have spent 80 hours so far. Also occasionally crashing, of course.
