VR Works!
I finally got VR to work decently well with my Rift S (my quest 2 was giving me issues so I had to break out old reliable) and while it's not the prettiest screen, it gets the job done. PC specs: Ryzen 3900x, 3060 ti, 32GB DDR4 ram, all other specs are average run of the mill performance. I should add, while I was extremely excited about this update, dear god playing this game in VR is terrifying, especially when the tree is rapidly approaching. Can't wait to see it's improvements over the next few weeks/months.

I am very much considering getting one those. What other VR headsets have you tried? I am curious how is the field of view compared to something like the Index if you have tried it.

For me, VR starts up, but performance is non-existent. Without VR, I can run with pretty much any quality settings with stable FPS. ON the other hand, with VR, it just drops to single digit of FPS.

Performance Graph suggests that potential bottlenecks are CPU and GameEngine. FPS jumps all over the place and only somewhat playable (although not enjoyable) setting I can play on is "Lowest".

Hardware:

CPU AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
GPU GeForce 1660 Ti (6 GB of VRAM, which is low)
RAM 128GB
Headset: Valve Index

I believe devs suggested vram of 10gb or more. 6gb i don't think will cut it.

Well, that's true. Not sure why the Performance Graphs shows bottlenecks in CPU and GameEngine instead of GPU. Without VR, the GPU is marked as the issue, but game works fine.

Welp, it might be the cause, because tool just doesn't see how much VRAM is used. Looks like I need yet another upgrade then.

HAH, lagg low grapichs and resolution low 30%, bad update!
Its playable with Quest2 on max graphic settings, 1.5x Render Resolution and traffic on, but you need high end PC (RTX 4090), just have little bit lag and some tree glitches. I really enjoy this sim, this is my favorite VR game now. Thank you devs, you guys are awesome!

It's a first draft I understand, later versions will be better performance wise. Don't forget it is experimental support. When I use smoothing the game runs perfectly on RTX 4080 with everything on ultra, plus oversamlpling, at my rig anyways

When I use reshade the effects are not visible in the headset, if anyone knows a solution please tell me! :)

I got it to work so far twice over air link. No artifacting or reprojection. Super easy to get going too.

Just gonna jump in here to help because I have a pretty high end machine and was struggling to get above 10fps without this fix, as well as having the issue where I'd spawn under the map.

You want to connect your headset to your pc with the Oculus app open, but not steamvr. Put your headset down and do the rest on your PC. Then load beamng in Vulkan mode, and in display settings set it to windowed and make the window really small (but big enough to still be able to interact with menus etc). Also put your graphics to lowest (you can try raising them up bit by bit to find the best middle ground), and then load into a freeroam map, ideally just a simple race track to test.

Once loaded, go into the settings again, and now activate VR from the display settings and wait until the game is in VR mode and put your headset on and it should be on your headset working fine. From here press 2 on your keyboard to go to driver cam, and then your center camera keybind (I changed it in settings so can't remember original but it's under center cam VR in settings), and you should be good to go.

The small window seems to fix the FPS issues, and I believe loading in without VR enabled is what fixes the under the map bug. Hope this helps
