Really, it is not a pleasant experience. Real world is quite different in a lot of places. Imagine the processing-power and system-resources needed to model real mud and soil-behaviour in various states of water-penetration, dirt-ingredients, etc...
...even the spintires-games haven't really succeeded in getting it ALL right - and they excel in mud.
