Bro Was Lost for a Long time and doesnt know that Multiplayer Exists!
I feel like the developers need to sticky a thread about BeamMP + KissMP even though they aren't the developers of them.. So many people ask about multiplayer despite multiplayer already existing
You don't need to be that paranoid, you're missing out on a lot of fun things by being overly cautious.
BeamMP
Pro: More supported. More servers available, more world locations for servers. Looks like a professional interface that integrates with the game. More options and abilities to filter the server list.
Con: Takes an effort to install in Proton. Have not gotten it to work with the Linux version of the game. Requires a Discord account to get a key to host your own server. Requires a BeamMP account if you want any username other than guest.
KissMP
Pro: Easy to install, works both in Proton and Linux version of the game. No accounts required. Easy to host your own server. Your player name can be anything you want it to be, if you launch from Steam it will default to your Steam name. Not as many public servers as BeamMP but still a fair number. Lighter code, might have better performance.
Con: Simple interface with limited options. Feels like a hack patched on top of the game. The multiplayer windows are always on top of your game interface even if you aren't playing multiplayer. (You can disable and enable in the mod manager if you are just playing local - requires game restart after disable or enable)
