NOTE: If you can't afford to build a gaming PC but you want to play this game on your current laptop, please be aware that your laptop will thermal-throttle at some points while playing the game so expect to see drops in performance from time to time.
If the graphics arent smooth enough on low, enter the editor (windowed mode game, press F11), choose LIGHTING on the menu bar and switch to BASIC LIGHTING, the game will take a few seconds to refresh, press F11 again to exit the editor. Do this when playing on any map that's otherwise too slow. It's a decent CPU but it really isn't going to be able to do anything besides two vehicles. I hope you did not pay more than 500~800$ for that laptop.
LAPTOPS ARE NOT MEANT FOR GAMING, short of the like 3000$ top-end ones, anyways. If you get thermal throttling, buy a cooling unit for the laptop, it is nothing but a laptop-sized fancy pad it sits on with a fan in it to suck the air out of the notebook computer better.
GPU is big no no
CPU is also a no no
I have a weaker laptop and it can play the first Flatout and Grid so... there ya go.
side note: My desk top has a better proccesor (core i3) but runs worse, my laptop only has an amd phenom 2 and half the ram
