Whichever has more cores

yeah, in theory the new intel cpus with the performance and efficiency cores could be pretty good, i don't know for sure as i don't have a 12th gen intel cpu

the efficiency cores would choke on BeamNG though

Cores don't really matter as long as you have 4 Physical. Go for the fastest Intel you can get imo.

yes it does. as beamng calculates roughly one car for each core.
also 6 cores is the new standard for the mid-end cpus.

Nobody programs for more than four as nobody thought Intel were ever going to do more than four.

that's not true, more modern programs are capable of using more than 4 cores, especially beamng where the more cores you have the more cars you can spawn.

completely false
And as the other guy said more cores means more cars on beamng
on top of that many games do use more than 4 cores

Benchmarks on youtube seem to say otherwise
The 12900k managed a higher framerate than the 5950x
But this could also just be due to DDR5

i wonder how the ryzen 7 5800x3d does in beamng.
and if it can beat the 12900k.

If you want 4-5 cars max then sure.

It's been 5 years already.

The most cores the better. Hyperthreading is a must. I made the mistake of going for an i5 instead of an i7, thinking overclocking it would give me the same performance for less money. While in most cases the CPU does have enough power, it's with games like these that I regret my choice. The most I can get without my fps starting to tank is 6. Traffic will drop me from 140fps to 40, lol.

Whether you choose AMD or Intel, that is your own choice.
