whats up with private mods?

havent touched beam.ng in a while and it has changed allot , in a good way

one thing tho , whats with the seemingly russian mods that were reworked often shown on youtube but never available in the mods section ?

and some suggest they are paid mods? isnt that against the TOS? and ultimately illegal as well? since those are cards ripped from games like forza etc.

iv just been away from the beamng community for a very long time and someone willing to answer these questions would be cool

They aren't from the forums, the team has rules and has to approve mods, so something of that nature would never wind up there. The mods are probably from some sketchy third-party site

they are likely 'mesh-slaps' from russian websites. They are horrible quality mods and are likely to give you a virus too.

Unsure if you are aware but there are some high quality real-life branded mods in the game forums (not the repository for legal issues). You can find them in forums>mods>vehicles>land on the BeamNG website.

For examples, the Dodge Coronet mod is a high quality branded mod that can be found in the forums. (Its rebranded as the Gavril Gladiator in the repo as well)

Reworking mods that are from those external sites is quite hard to do so as they are low quality, youtubers use their reworked mods sometimes as clickbait, or other things of the sort.

This of course is not allowed on the official forum (selling content which you have not made yourself, and that is potentially copyrighted).
We cannot control what people do in their private places.
This is nothing new, I recall this happens/happened in Assetto Corsa as well.

If one is willing to throw money at them, it's their loss.
