New update not recognizing mods?
Just installed the latest update with the walking mode (rlly hyped) and the launcher came up with something saying it would clear my setting and stuff. Fair enough so I launched the game (and have tried restarting) and none of my mods show up in the game despite not being in safe mode and my mods still being in my mods folder. Is there a new spot for mods or something? Did some basic searches on the internet and didn't find anyone else with a similar question so I fear it might be something extremely basic.

and answered my own question. The folder moved to app data. there's a link to the app data that can be found in the old location in documents as well.

All mods that I had subscribed to and downloaded/installed(etc) previously have completely disappeared since the Steam update to BeamNG today.

I just saw your (above) answer. How do I go about getting my mods back? Do I need to re-subscribe to all of them and re-dlwnload/install them again?

I am currently having the same problem, which practically ruined my game mod library of 160+ car and map mods. I'm trying to fix it right now but so far I've had no luck with getting anything to work.

Move the folder out of AppData back into documents where it belongs. This update might break mods tho.

I see what i THINK are (some?) of my mods residing on my PC, in documents, BeamNG, mods, repo folder. But it's definitely NOT all the mods I had subscribed to or had been using. AND, they're all WINRar files that need to be extracted. I don't even USE WINRAR, I use WIn Explorer for file extraction, etc. SO still not sure what's going on. I KNOW the Steam update "took" properly, as the new car and F-view (for getting out of car and walking around) are there. BUt my mods are not installed anymore.

Go to documents folder, hit beamng and then in there is a folder called mods. This is the old location where the mods folder is and this is where all ur mods are stored. If you go to the beamng folder in documents theres a shortcut called "moved_here" or something which takes u to the new one. Carry over mods u want to keep to the new mod location and it should work.

The mods are fine in the winrar format as beamng reads them just fine. You just need to move those winrar files into the new mods folder location which can be found in appdata/local/beamng

Most of my mods that I used previously are still working so I'm happy about that :)

but what are people supposed to do that have moved their documents to another hard drive because there is only windows on C:? am i supposed to buy a new hard drive and reinstall windows only to get beamng back to working condition?!

the way you phrased this has me confused asf.

if you moved your documents folder to another harddrive (assuming all your mods are in that documents folder) then to get your mods you should go to that other harddrive you moved them to.

Beamng should be working without mods. If you are having an issue with the game and not your mods thats an entirely seperate issue. If beam isn't working try booting in safe mode idk.

i moved documents (where Beamng mods were until today) from C: to E: because my C: is only 128G. Beamng is working but i cant install any mods because my C: only has 10G of free space and I see no option or only one really risky one in moving Appdata to another harddrive

oooh I see now. I beleive there's a way to migrate your beam folder to another drive. I would agree that moving your entire appdata folder is not the way you want to go.

Bob: from one Bob to another: thank you for your spot-on explanation. All I had to do after moving my mod files over to the "moved here" folder (which I hadn't even SEEN until you pointed it out) was to activate them . Now they're all working, no re-downloading or re-installing,etc. The ones I tried (I didn't use any car mods, just new tracks or roads) seem to be working fine. SO thanks much!
