Be more gentle with the steering inputs, choose a powerful but normally aspirated car (which won't have turbo lag), and as usual, "practice, practice, practice".
This game have very weird unrealistic centrifugal force that for some reason do not work on cars rear end!
It is like 100% understeer.
So this is nothing to do with you using gamepad or if you would use the best steering wheel on the market.
This game is just lacking proper car handling simulation. Weirdly enough this game at the same time is quite the most realistic one on the market.... Wery weird that they failed to make proper weight simulation while cornering.
Surface grip and cars center of mass location is determining if car will flip or not.
That said, go hop in a racecar in game and you will wish the understeer was back.
