Did you try to restart the game to see if the problem persisted?
Also check your AC cable. If your cable is loose, it could not be powering the wheel correctly.

Make sure you update your steering wheel drivers to the absolute latest ones. Past driver versions have been known to create problems, including crashes, when attempting to use FFB.

Also, as is usually recommended, disable ALL your mods when you have any kind of problem, just to rule out incorrect modifications to the game being the cause.

I have the latest drivers and i don't have any mods. I'm thinking it may be me who is setting it up incorrectly

just tried to install latest drivers and reinstalled the game, and the problem is still there. i noticed that sometimes when the vehicle was at a stop, the wheel would move itself, and also that sometimes when turning the wheel would shortly pick up some weight, but then lose it again

What is your drivers configuration, could you please take a screenshot?
Also, can you please try to disable all profiles functionality from Logitech Profiler, and try again?
Finally, also try to go to the Controls menu in BeamNG.drive and click "Reset All" to remove all your custom inputmap configuration and leave the defaults, which should work out of the box with the G29.

I reset the controls, and i kind of got forcefeedback when i turn the wheel, but it's still very inconsistent, no response from the wheel when my rear loses traction, and the wheel vibrates alot

Use this guide to set up your FFB and to reduce vibrations: https://wiki.beamng.com/Steering_wheel_setup#Vibration_cancelling_guide

I have never used a G29 so I'm not familiar with how their profiling software looks like. For the G25 and G27 it is under the Options menu of logitech software.

Generally the menu names should be self explanatory.

If in doubt, check the manual of your steering wheel and drivers.

Under profile settings, the only thing i find is " standard profile" , "permanent profile" and "switch between profiles"

It's like wheel centering doesn't work properly

We don't add any artificial centering effect, so the steering will not self-center unless you're driving.
Are you driving or are you testing while the vehicle is parked?

We don't simulate powersteering mechanisms and we don't dumb down the FFB when the vehicle is stopped either, which together with these low/mid range steering wheels, means the experience will not be perfect while the vehicle is driving very slowly or stopped.

I'm driving, and when i try to drift for example, the wheel does nothing when the car oversteers. No countersteering, nothing
