EDIT: It was mods. Ignore me
Having a huge lift on a 4x4 can actually be counter-productive if you plan on going up super-steep inclines - make it just big enough (including wheels / tires) so that you can clear your obstacle, but not so big that you put your center of gravity too far away from the ground, causing you to tip backwards when accelerating up an incline from an almost-stopped position.
Can't tell you how many times that I've seen a Jeep 4x4 tip backwards and fall down to from where it once came.
Though that being said, a winch would be pretty cool honestly. I could winch my pianos up cliffs to recover them then, but then I'd need a lot of duct tape and wood glue, too.
...Maybe I'll just stick to shoving pianos off the dam.
The lighting, especially the shadows are very distracting on the insides of cars.
The shadows are shivering way too much and on the left door, on the panel and on the wheel you can see a lot of "noise" with the shadow's render.
The shadows also seem to ignore the geometry of the wheel and it's probably intentional to prevent FPS drops but the way it was executed doesn't work, it's too distracting moving the wheel and having the shadows stay completely still.
The problems fades away when you drive at 100Km/h because at this point the shadows move fast enough so that you can't see how ugly they are.
But when you go relatively slowly they just scratch at my eyes, I have a harder time seeing the road and appreciating the model of the interior.
I don't know if I'm stupid but I didn't find any shadow options, there should be one so that you can decide on the number of "cascades" for shadows or even disable them from rendering for cars completely.
Sorry to hear you are having problems.
Please note that regarding the lightning changes, we have yet not got around adjusting all our content to reflect the new changes. But also note that the new lightning is closer to correct lightning than the older one. We will be updating our content as we go to take advantage of the new possibilities.
The loading screen depends a lot on your system.
The benchmark we posted were done on a Ryzen 2700X and a Crucial MX100 SSD.
Results may vary on different setups. But it should overall be faster than before.
If not, something may be wrong on your side.
As for mods, we do spend a lot of time and effort in keeping backward compatibility with older content. We could simply not, and save up so much time, but we deliberately choose not to.
Please understand that despite these efforts, sometimes it's just not possible.
We cannot be blocked from updating the game because mods. It's a risk to calculate when modding a game in development.
Thanks for your sharing your thoughts.
Shadows are something we want to improve in the future.
The current system is based off old tech, and it's issues are now more visible with the lightning changes. There's Shadow options in the Graphics menu, they mainly control their resolution.
We have SMAA, which is virtually no cost on performance and can cover most of the cases.
Every AA method has it's own requirements (render changes, performance, etc.), as well their own side-effect (TAA known to introduce ghosting)
Sorry I can't find the shadows resolution settings, only the "enable shadows : partial/none".
Cranking the res up would be good, at least temporarily.
