You could mod in your own custom differential with ratio range you prefer.
You can follow this guide:
https://www.beamng.com/threads/tutorial-how-to-mod-engine-part-1.39221/
Up to step 4, you need to pick the file that contains the differential (usually the suspension one)
Then up to step 6, you need to simply find the differential values in the file and change them.
Also give your part a specific name, so it shows up as a new part.
NOTE: The pickup files are split between these two folders
Content/vehicles/pickup
Content/vehicles/common/pickup
lots of power ;) just to heavy lol though i do feel like the default gear ratio is a bit off as well 90km in first gear in high range?
YOU IS A GUUD PEOPLE!!!!11!!!one!
Really though, thanks a lot, I'll definite give myslef tons of new difs. And honestly, some custom motors. Most of my passion is for old trucks, so making a 454 big block from the 70-80s era that only has ~250 hp and ~260-~300 torque would be AMAZING. Thank you so very much you beautiful bastard.
Welp, that failed. guide didn't help, could find the right location. Found another guide, seemed promising with a file ready to go, however upon loading it into truck i get an error and the truck no longer works. Sooooooooo, i suck lol.
This is in no way the game's fault, except perhaps it is silly that the only pickup in the game cant tow for ♥♥♥♥ and has no adjustable diff choices. But mainly it's my lack of intelligence. Oh well :/
Thanks anyways my man, you did try.

The install folder?
It may vary if your Steam is installed in a different location.
You can quickly access that by doing this:
- Right-click the game in your library
- Properties > 'Local Files' tab > 'Browse Local Files' button
Now you are in the game's directory. Go in content/vehicles and you will find all the files
Uhm, not sure about this.
It's possible that file is outdated (this stuff gets constantly changed, so using old files is no go). Or that file was meant for another vehicle. Or it had errors.
Am I mistaken or is the weight listed there GVW? I meant the tralier itself weighs 5800 lbs on it's own (Thats including load weight). And that's something I'll look into, but I do not believe it to be the case. The mod seems very well done and I have not noticed such issues. Aside from that I haven't found any good way to simulate load weights with the normal trailers. The mod I'm using actually repurposes some the the normal trailers, just allowing suspension customization and granted the option to have loads on them. I've been using hay bales.
No I found the install location easy enough, I mean I could find the actualy file containing what I was looking for. As for the seond point, more than likely that's the case. Like I said, I'm rather inept at this sort of thing so I cant make my own. Rebuild you vehicle from the ground up irl? Heck yeah, do it for fun. Make a custom diff for a game? Not so much lol xD
The trailer itself weighs over 10,000lbs - try spawning one, it's just the default flatbed trailer from the stock game.
So, after a bit of testing, I have no explanation as to what that works. But it is not accurate. I actually have a fifthwheel adapter trailer mod, so I can actually use the flatbead properly. And empty, yes you can tow it. But the second you add a load to it, it becomes almost impossible to move. Again, no explanation as to why it works empty, but again it is not accurate.
Turns out, I'm an idiot. Yeah Idk why the trailer pack I use is so hard to tow, but once I loaded the flatbed PROPERLY, it was pretty fun to mess with and worked great. So yeah, you were entirely right.
However, I sstand by the need for shorter rear diffs for towing, or better yet an adjustable one. This would be great for many reasons, including better towing and better offroad gear reduction.
