Painting individual portions of a vehicle?

While customizing cars in the garage, is it possible for me to change the colors of only certain parts of the car? For example, the hopper is tan but I want the doors to be red. Can I do stuff like this, or alternatively is there a mod that would let me?

ATM it's not possible, only way is to make a skin and then add it on your car
