I'd rip a car apart and just keep the front passenger compartment half, from A to B pillar, rig it up, but I have to learn A LOT more to do it, would be a heck of a VR though.
I did find pedal controls w/clutch that you can buy seperate from the wheel. (for about $100-$150) Considering grabbing those and trying to use pedals alongside the controller (would feel so strange, but would give me a working clutch)
I try using the clutch with the controller but my old hands just aren't that coordinated enough anymore (too many buttons to press at once = I grind gears a lot lol)
Beamng can register 2 sets apart from eachother. That way you can assign the set you like most for steering, gas and brakes. The other set can be used to assign the clutch and some other macro actions.
I am having this kind of setup right now and i'm liking it.
It is important to assign the gas and brake to the same pedal set, because most cheap sets have a combined input. This means that you can press the 2 pedals at the same time, but the input is then seen as neutral. If you want to use the clutch when braking and accelerating (which i think is what most people want) this is necessary.
How is the wheel support in general?
Im using the T500rs with the 3 pedals (upside down, so not standing from the ground up but from the backwall out) and an TH8A addon shifter. Thinking about building an E-brake for fun.
We have a list of hardware we have tested here:
wiki.beamng.com/Controller_support
With their statues and notes (in case they require some special thing to work).
Generally, the game would support pretty much anything.
If it's tested by us, it has good chances we already provide a premade configuration to it.
If not, it's just a matter of configuring it first via the in-game controls menu.
AMAZING!
Thank you very mutch for this link and the information!
One suggestion I have if your going buy a Racing Wheel is that buy it at stores like the MicroStore, Best Buy, GameStop, etc, because people waaay overprice them on amazon or ebay. like this https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-Force-Feedback-racing-wheel-WINDOWS/dp/B01CI97DNM/ref=sr_1_4?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1515337523&sr=1-4&keywords=thrustmaster or this https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-T3PA-3-Pedal-Pedal-xbox-one/dp/B00KX75W9O/ref=sr_1_11?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1515337593&sr=1-11&keywords=thrustmaster&th=1 Why $150 for a pedal set? People are crazy
