Which wheel do you use?
^^ Wondering what wheel people use for the game, and how they like it?

Did a search online and most of the ones I can find (at least ones with a clutch) are insanely priced at $1000 or more!

I'm thinking of getting a ThrustMaster Ferrari 458 Italia wheel. £70 new or half that used with pedals. No clutch and it has paddle shifters and no FF but it's really cheap.

I prefer a wheel w/pedal and clutch. But at the moment I can only afford an Xbox360 controller. It works okay.
Yeah I'd love a wheel but I want one the size of a REAL steering wheel, not this rubbish 10 inch stuff, it's too small for my hands.
I'd rip a car apart and just keep the front passenger compartment half, from A to B pillar, rig it up, but I have to learn A LOT more to do it, would be a heck of a VR though.

Man I was really hoping someone might mention a wheel w/clutch they like and picked up for a little bit cheaper than the $800-$1000 range...

I did find pedal controls w/clutch that you can buy seperate from the wheel. (for about $100-$150) Considering grabbing those and trying to use pedals alongside the controller (would feel so strange, but would give me a working clutch)

I try using the clutch with the controller but my old hands just aren't that coordinated enough anymore (too many buttons to press at once = I grind gears a lot lol)

An option could be buying two cheap wheel sets. (Or one cheap and another more expensive one with force feedback). Cheap sets often come with a 2 pedal setup.
Beamng can register 2 sets apart from eachother. That way you can assign the set you like most for steering, gas and brakes. The other set can be used to assign the clutch and some other macro actions.
I am having this kind of setup right now and i'm liking it.

It is important to assign the gas and brake to the same pedal set, because most cheap sets have a combined input. This means that you can press the 2 pedals at the same time, but the input is then seen as neutral. If you want to use the clutch when braking and accelerating (which i think is what most people want) this is necessary.

I use a G27; clutch and H-shifter. Not the best wheel out there, but decent entry-level to the "higher-end" wheels. FFB in BeamNG isn't amazing, but it'll do for now. Bought it used for $190 like 4-5 years ago, but I'm sure its possible to find them cheaper now.

Im thinking of buying this BeamGN.drive

How is the wheel support in general?

Im using the T500rs with the 3 pedals (upside down, so not standing from the ground up but from the backwall out) and an TH8A addon shifter. Thinking about building an E-brake for fun.

We have a list of hardware we have tested here:
wiki.beamng.com/Controller_support
With their statues and notes (in case they require some special thing to work).

Generally, the game would support pretty much anything.
If it's tested by us, it has good chances we already provide a premade configuration to it.
If not, it's just a matter of configuring it first via the in-game controls menu.

I use a logitech Driving Force GT I picked up for $50 used. The pedals were broke so I fixed them but lost very little initial travel. I've been EXTREMELY happy for almost three years now. I have been torn as to if I should get the new G29, but after hearing that these Logitech rigs are fairly similar to each other (gear driven, 900 degrees of rotation) I'm taking the plunge on a Thrustmaster TS300, cant wait!

Buy USED! Get a good used G27, thats what i did, paid £120, and (for me) it has made BeamNG come alive! I can sit here and doughnut cars in a carpark until my heart's content, or until i blow the engine! lol. Depends what you are playing for, and how 'real' you want the dynamics of your gameplay to be.

You can get a Xbox and windows compatible Thrustmaster TMX Force feedback for $150/$200. I have one and its very good and comfortable, especially with games like American Truck Simulator and Beamng.Drive. Or you can get the Pro edition that comes with pedals w/clutch for $180/$250. And you can also buy the (Waaay over priced) Thrustmaster TH8A force shifter for $120/$190.

One suggestion I have if your going buy a Racing Wheel is that buy it at stores like the MicroStore, Best Buy, GameStop, etc, because people waaay overprice them on amazon or ebay. like this https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-Force-Feedback-racing-wheel-WINDOWS/dp/B01CI97DNM/ref=sr_1_4?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1515337523&sr=1-4&keywords=thrustmaster or this https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-T3PA-3-Pedal-Pedal-xbox-one/dp/B00KX75W9O/ref=sr_1_11?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1515337593&sr=1-11&keywords=thrustmaster&th=1 Why $150 for a pedal set? People are crazy
