Unbearable Menu Lag
And when I say unbearable, I mean unusable. It's gotten worse this past update (which also curropted most of my vehicle configuration files.. Grr)

My game runs at a solid 60fps and I when I go to press ESC .. 5 seconds later literally the menu will pop up. The game still runs perfectly smooth but the menu it's self is like trying to play GTA V on an old Windows XP computer. I have to click "settings" or "controls" etc and wait for atleasta minute before the screen will appear. But yet, the game behind it is running at a solid 60fps.

I think other people who also had GTX cards was experiencing this. Does anyone else?

check to see if your menu resolution is set too high
>options>graphics>ui max resolution
mine used to be at 1080p and was really slow but i changed it to another size and it was alot faster

It's not a thing with GTX cards.
Seems to happen with very few people, we not sure why yet.

We added a bunch of fall-back to go around that.

First, make sure, as said above me, your UI Max Resolution is set to 1080p. It's not the case to disable that.
Second, make sure your game is up to date. In the latest update we added a way to disable the main videos (Options > Graphics > Main Menu Background (or something like that) > Select IMAGE.

Also, if you have a lot of mods, it's better try with SAFE MODE first.
If a mod is spamming errors, it is also more likely killing the UI.

What are your PC full specs?

I just bought the game and got the same issue. So my game is clean and of the newest version. I tried to change the UI Max Resolution but with no effect. Game itself is running fine but it's just the menu.

Specs:
Intel i5 2400 3,1GHz
16Gb RAM
nVidia GTX 760
Spy satellite connection

How much does it lag?
Can you maybe record a video and share it?

Never filmed some in-game footage in my life actually so don't have the software needed for it on my pc at the moment. If it really makes it any easier for you I can do it. Hell, I could even learn something from it!

But let me try use some words first: There are no problems in the main menu itself it is just when in game and then it is about 10 fps. The HUD (rev counter, speedo, etc.) are also around a 10 fps. When the menu is opened the game itself still runs smooth(er). Could it has something to do with prioritization?

Edit: The NAV system in the car itself, when in 1st person mode, is running around the same speed as the menu/HUD.

Edit edit: Was trying out the campaign right now and sometimes in the cutscenes it also slows down when (I presume) a lot of layers are used (if there are any). Example: When doing the first race in the cutscene there is a shot zoomed in on the money which goes quite smooth and the next shot is the two cars, the crowd and some smoke and right there it goes way slow!

Our UI is limited at 30FPS (IIRC) for technical reason, to give more resource to the actual game.
It should be slower than the actual game, but it shouldn't lag much. Some parts of the game such as Licence Plate and Navigator use the UI to render data.

The more apps you add, the more load you put on the UI, which may run slower.

We know about this issue since a while, and it happens to few people, randomly (despite beast PC or toaster). The thing is trying to find out why that happens is a bit harder when we ourselves aren't able to replicate the issue on various machines.

Althought, I will pass the reports to the UI team, so that when the holidays are over we can dedicate some more time in trying to improve the UI performance.

The UI (especially vehicle selector, parts selector, tuning menu, etc.) is about as responsive as a dead sloth. And when you add a few apps, even the speedometer and other apps begin to update with a lot of lag and at much less Hz.

When I use the parts selector, I have to freeze the physics, otherwise it needs like 0.5 to 1 damn second for one part to remove / change.

We really need some optimisation!

Would it help to post some sort of log files or other types of files to determine the problem? As you say it doesn't matter wether the game is being played on a toaster or ESA pc the problem sometimes persists there must be some red line here? The more data the better right?

Can't tell at the moment.
As soon I try to reach some UI guys I will tell (We are on holidays, it's the day after Christmas, etc etc)

Never seen replies until now but it seems like people are going through the exact same situation. The menu BEFORE I load into freeroam is perfect, no lag what so ever. As soon as I get into game, there's no lag. No loss in FPS. Once I press ESC it takes close on to 30-40 seconds before the side menu even appears. The game itself still don't lag but the menu doesn't respond to my mouse until I hover over it for a good 15 seconds. Then I click and have to wait another 15-20. I used to be laggy, but not this laggy. Only happened once I updated to the patch. I'll post my specs. I don't think they're recommended but the game still runs pefectly fast for me with a steady 60fps

Intel 3.2Ghz G3258 Anniversary Edition
Nvidia GTX 750 TI (2GB)
8GB DDR3 Ram

That should be all you need. Can't remember the name of my mobo lol.

have you turned down the UI resolution in your settings? that can help remove alot of lag. 'can' for some users having these menu issues

i have a feeling somewhere settings arent being saved. i have to reset the dynamic collisions EVERY time i play the game, even though it's disabled (each time i start the game up, it resets itself and i have to un check, and recheck dynamic collisions)

Going to try it as soon as I redownload the game. It started crashing upon boot today lol.

For customer satisfaction purposes, the Radeon Rx 480/470 series cards do not experience menu lag (at 1080p, medium or high/max details tested). Not even with 7+ vehicles.

Tried what you said. It worked a bit but it's still unbareable.
