You simply can not full into driving without good Peripherals. If you wish to take the sim part seriously you are going to need to invest.
It's like trying to fly in a flight sim without a joystick.

Many people do not have problems with the current setup, just need to find a prefer amount of 'non-linearity' and it will pretty much do it.
Anyhow, took note.
We will see what can be done.
I do understand that a Steering Wheel will solve this issue. But for a more general impact, meaning being more enjoyable for the biggest number of players possible, this is a interesting feature that doesn't need to be obligatory - those that are used to the current gamepad settings wouldn't complain.
Oh, and I did played hours of Flight Sims with PS3 gamepads with good precision, so is not impossible (difficult, though).
Thanks for replying!
Also a huge thumbs up for your work! Beam.NG has been the best Early Access experience I've ever had and certainly I can say that every penny worth the investment!
Looking forward to the next updates!!
After about a week of dealing with what I thought was the best I could get out of the game's Linearity and Deadzone setting, I just read in a different forum about the Filter pull down menu.
It was on Automatic the whole time, once I switched it to Pad, the steering became much more reasonably controllable. No more excessive delay or lag in steering response, it feels more real life now to me.
Moral of the story, try all the settings.
This post is from 4 years ago. Gamepad support was massively improved, but you're still dealing with super complex physics beneath the game, so yeah: a steering wheel is ideal.
FFB got better in my G29 after last update tho
