Removing dry rock island broke some mods
I knew it was going to be removed, since it says so right on the thumbnail, but even if I install the map as a mod or put the level directly into the levels folder, things like grass and trees have the orange "no texture" texture. Any ideas?

Are your materials.cs pointing to the correct path for the textures?

Has the map been modified at all when it became a mod?

I don't recall.

Maybe the person who posted this should put it in the game files, maybe it's directing it there. (Not in mods folder in documents.)

Well, if you are making a map that uses assets from DRI, you should probably copy the assets into your map folder, instead of having it loading from the DRI folder (even more now, as the map is deprecated as mod, and not all users may have it)

JRI is the updated, better version of DRI.

Have you missed the thumbnail on the DRI map?
Since a year the thumbnail said that the map would have been removed from the base game.
Not because less content, but because JRI is the actual updated map.

Anyhow, the map is still available as mod, as previously promised

The maps I'm using specifically use models and textures from dry rock island, so I tried putting dry rock island into the game's levels folder instead of the mods folder. While this works for models, a lot of textures are still missing.

You should probably contact the author and tell him about it.
He probably needs to make sure the DRI assets are actually in his level assets, and that all the paths are correct.

Now it's only the grass, so I'm making some progress at least.

I advice to constantly checking the console.
It usually tells why a material/texture couldn't be loaded :)

Ok, I've found that grass_fields.dds abd normalsfix.dds are missing from the dry rock island mod, but I'm not sure how I'd find these anywhere else.
You'd find those in ECA or JRI. Look around in the game content zips, but just don't modify your game directory.
Make sure all your materials.cs say /your map name/ not /dryrockisland/ or /DRI/ or whatever it says there in the path.
Like my map that was So-cal was code-name 'TSH'
so it's saying /levels/tsh/art/blahblahblahblah whatever here, so that it looks in it's own folders.
