also, unless you got ADD or severy brain damage, moving stuff with the mission editor is really not a hard concept to understand
Copy-Pasting the same message along different threads is not needed, we read all the messages in there. It just de-rails the others threads.
How you can move vehicles:
- ALT+CLICK (Also named 'Node-Grab'). Useful for small movements, not suitable for precision placing.
- World Editor (Enable with F11). Suitable for precision placing.
It's suggested to pause the physics while moving an object (Press J to pause), or vehicles will still be simulated while being moved.
Also, go in free-camera before moving your vehicle, or the camera will still be attached to the vehicle, making small movements impossible.
It's very easy to use that: Just click one axis and drag to move the selected object along it. It's the same kind of editor you find in many other games.
- F8/F7 method as suggested above (Teleportation).
Use F8 (Or SHIFT+C) to enter free-camera mode. Move your camera with WASD+Mouse.
Once you find a good spot, press F7 to teleport your vehicle to the camera's position.
None of this is hard, you just need to get used to the game. If you don't give yourself the time to learn all the controls, stuff will not be easy. Every game has its own learning curve.
Our is a bit steep if you want to do advanced things, but once you have got it you won't have issues.
The camera controls are okay when youre actually driving, but they make setting things up extremely time consuming
I tried setting up a wall to drive a drag car into it and the wall wouldnt spawn in the position i wanted and when i tried moving it, it got destroyed. I just think something as simple and important to the game like moving and positioning props/vehicles shouldnt feel so complicated and time consuming.
youve helped me the best you can and ive voiced how I feel the game can be improved on for new players. Ill keep trying to get used to the controls but i just dont see it happening. It takes the enjoyment out of the game for me.
Tried the f11, all it does it glitch my game out, and you can't even select the vehicle or w.e you're trying to click, always selects the map or some stupid crap.. Idk, I cant play the game anymore. I gave it an honest chance but its unenjoyable. Freeroam does not work, you cannnot place vehicles via f11 f8 and f7 dont do anything, idk how you guys do stuff in this game outside of premade missions and whatnot. Super frustrating.
Just tried again, ended up moving slates of the entire map along with a semi truck. This is far too difficult and time consuming just to set up super basic things (Im trying to set up a semi on the ramp in the grid map, that will smash into cars at the bottom. So far its taken be almost 2 hours just to get a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ truck at the top of the ramp and a single car at the bottom. I was almost sucsessful, until i accidently clicked some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ground peice and it ruined the whole thing, making 2 hours of hard work (which is really just spawning in a vehicle and placing it somewhere) worthless and I instantly exited the game.
Absolutely horrible
This is what happens when I use the translator (green blue arrows) in f11 mode... the slightest touch sends it flying out of map and it glitches the whole thing... cant rotate either or do other important things regarding placement.. And I usually end up accidently clicking the wrong thing and it gets deleted.. idk mang, the f11 really doesn't help.
That makes small movement impossible, as while you are moving your vehicle, the camera is also moving, which makes your vehicle moves even more, and so on.
All these movements summing up makes your vehicle go out of the map.
Press SHIFT+C before moving your own vehicle
I haven't seen anybody having so much trouble moving stuff around as you, and honestly I don't understand why, and this is frustrating especially for me, as I'm trying all my best to help you out, but it seems with no result :(
We will be taking your directions in order to improve the editor and make it more user friendly.
Since it's clear that you are not happy with your Early Access purchase, I invite you to contact us over at : https://support.beamng.com/ and we will help you out.
Please leave a link to this page in the message, so we recognize you.
Im the one who just cant seem to learn how to figure it out!
And you have infact helped me alot, and provided me with answers and information. Thats all you can really do, changing an interface to be more user friendly doesnt happen over night. Youve shown me my frustrations arent in vein and one day perhaps there will be an easier way to move and position things.
Basically, youve helped me more then ya know! Ill check out the support page but theres nothing that really bugs me other then the things weve covered. The gameplay is amazing and im very happy with it its just the simple things that feel overly complicated that erk me. All of my issues have been adknowledged and i feel like my voice has been heard so now all i can do is wait for some update! I did see a thread earlier, im not the only one that thinks a more simple placement scheme would be very viable for not only experienced players but to help new players dive in and experience all this amazing game has to offer. :)
TdLr dont feel bad man. Youve done everything a dev can do, interface changes dont happen over night and youve done everything in your power to help me out.
Thank you so much! I look forward to future improvements.
(Side note, im attempting quitting smoking so if at any point i sounded irrational/overly aggitated that would be why lol) As for the Shift C I did make sure I was in the mode prior.
Also, I keep getting GPU isn't responding when loading into freeroam map (custom map zip files in Mod folder) not sure if thats an error on the maps side but i've been getting the error quite frequently. (GPU usage 54% on crash, I make it into the map but the second I spawn in the game crashes)
