5 minutes is a lot. Is that an exaggeration?
It should take from half a second to up to 3 seconds to change a part, depending on the PC.

Well it takes that long cause my pc is a laptop and the parts menu is is the most laggy part of the game

Does your laptop meet the minimum requirements?
Also, 5 minutes? Like, really? Is that an exaggeration and it takes something like 10 seconds in reality?

Also, what part takes long, opening the menu, or actually applying a part (ie. right when you select the part)

Are you using mods?
Did you try a clean reinstall?

It took me a long time to modify my car, as well but because the menu is slow and doesn't save your place. So if you change one part in a tree then it resets you to the start of that tree so you have to navigate back. Also because you change the front wheels and rear wheels in seperate locations and you change the tires for the front and tires for the rear also in seperate locations.

I would say it took me about 5 minutes to change out wheels and tires as well for this reason. Actually loading in the new part only takes about a second though as mentioned. Also clicking the next arrow is fidley, as you have to click exactly on it and not just in the area.

5 min? That's a long time even my pc can change them in like 20 seconds, I think that it is time to upgrade.

Pause the game by using 'J', then change the parts. Problem partially solved, ain't gettin' much better than this unless the devs optimise the UI.
