1) Launch the game. It opens on the wrong screen
2) If its in fullscreen mode, change it to windowed mode. Once it is in windowed mode, move it to the correct screen.
3) Now change it back to fullscreen mode, and then quit the game
4) Launch the game, it should come up in fullscreen mode on the correct screen. Change it to windowed mode and quit the game.
Now when I launch the game, it launches in windowed mode on the correct screen.
2. Start the game.
3. Reconnect remaining monitors.
For example - before:
The number designates an index, so it starts from 0. In other words, having 3 monitors would mean possible values of {0, 1, 2}.
Those files are not showing because system files are not shown on your computer by default, you would have to turn that on.
However if you open documents\my games\terraria\config.json there are 2 lines
"Display": "\\\\.\\DISPLAY1",
"DisplayScreen": "\\\\.\\DISPLAY1",
both of those said 2 and I changed to 1 and it fixed the problem for me. They would have to be the monitor number you want,
well since this didn't help me at all I'll put in what helped for me since maybe that does actually solve it for others........
CherryBerry's solution is NOT working for me. I have tried at lease 10 times. No matter what I do , it reverts to the primary monitor.
To be clear, I am running
OS: Windows 7 Enterprise
ROG laptop W/Intel I-7
Mirrored caching SSD's
32 GB Physical ram,
100 GB Swap file (on the SSD).
The point is, not a hardware issue but I build really big cities with LOTS of Mods and custom candy. And, event though the these giant cities are using nearly all my ram and sometimes +30 GB virtual RAM, they were loading (8 to 10 min) an playing just fine. And they looked WAY better...
After being force-fed the 2 "Free" patches, my game was hard crashing early in the load and figuring out what was causing it COST me a ton of time. Now, thanks to these "free patches", my saved cities are significantly less appealing visually and my playing experience is diminished in value (not free).
I was only able to get the Game running and playing saved Cities by unsubscribing to several add-on's, including but not limited to, Loading Screen Mod, Tree Anarchy, Prop Anarchy and temporarily, 81 Tiles 2. To get the later add-on to work, I sometimes have to start the saved games without 81 Tiles 2. loaded, then save and close. I am then able to restart with
So I didn't loose them but what a pain to simply be able to see them again in any playable form. I also cannot load saved cities if I subscribe to "Tree Anarchy Temp Fix " so my big cities now look like grassy plains and generic props.
The sad reality is that Paradox routinely breaks the game ever time they patch it and then leave their customer base on there own to get it going again. Ans some are thinking, well its those mods that are at fault but seriously? The came is specifically marketed as a modifiable game with a robust modding community and without many of the additional functionality these mods bring, the game would be dull and lack-luster and bye bye customer base.
So, I like the game, but there are areas where Paradox can and should do better, IMO
I will try the new Tree Anarchy next to see if that is working on my previously saved Cities.
