[SOLVED] Game starts on wrong screen and I can't change it.
So I've already tried to change the monitor in the BeamNG.drive settings and it did not work at all. The game still starts on the wrong screen. Sometimes it randomly works, but after a restart of the game it's starting on the second screen again. Changing the resolution and screen settings (borderless, fullscreen, window mode) doesn't work.
Reinstalling also doesn't work.

I hope someone knows how to fix this.

EDIT: It's not exactly random Changing the Monitor (#1 or #2) does nothing, however I also have no 60Hz option, just 59Hz. If its set on Monitor #2 1920x1080 59Hz and I restart the game I'm able to choose 60Hz if I change to Monitor #1. Then the game switches the screen, but it changes the screen after another restart.
This process I have to go through makes no sense.

Make sure you have selected the right screen you want to use in Options > Graphics.
Also set the game to Windowed mode.

Then restart the game, it should launch again in the 'old' monitor. That's because it currently remembers the window position. Just drag the game's window into the correct monitor.

Now you can switch back to full-screen/borderless, the game should launch on the monitor you dragged the game's window to.

Also, some monitors may not display a 60Hz option, but a 59Hz.
I have a 60Hz monitor, but in most games I do see 59Hz (although it's correctly displaying at 60Hz). Something about how the monitor communicate with Windows.

That the game remembers the old position explains a lot. Thanks a lot for the help :D

Hi there,

This does not work for me. The game doesn't go into Windowed mode (as in the Windows borders do not appear so I cannot drag it, alt-enter does not work also).

Is there any config file I can change to force the game to open on another monitor?

Cheers!

Forgot to mention, I have a 3 monitor setup (not stretched over triple screens though because I don't like it) and my middle screen is set as my default/primary monitor.

If you get no borders, it means you are not in windowed mode, but in borderless mode.
You need to uncheck borderless to go back to the true windowed mode. Only then you can drag the game's window where you want.

Change the monitor in-game, from Options > Graphics.
Then restart the game.
The game will go in fullscreen on the monitor you have selected there.

So what do you do if you can't access the game's options because the monitor it opens on goes black with "Resolution Not Supported"?

I use 2 different size monitors on two separate graphics cards. I am using as my primary, a 27.5" on a GTX1060Dual and 17.5" on a GTX750
I have at lest 2 games I can't play because I can't force them to open on my main display. Doom 2016 and Wolfenstein the New Colossus. They USED to open properly on the main display. I NEVER told them, (or allowed them) to open on the small screen, but now they do it anyway and I can't change it. I have some mental issues(nuff said,) that I need to have the other monitor open with something running even while playing a game, so just unplugging it while I want to play is NOT an option. However, I did attempt to try and fix it by unplugging it, starting the games and accessing options to do as suggested and select the main display. But, if you don't have more than one monitor plugged in when the game loads, that option does not exist in the settings! So how do I manually FORCE the games to open on the correct monitor when I can NOT access those options?

We still have no solution for this? This topic should not be marked as solved. I am on a brand new computer and I believe this is happening because my main monitor is set to "primary display" but is still Monitor #2. I can't merely switch cables because one is HDMI and one is Displayport. Seems the HDMI port is always #1.

well since this didn't help me at all I'll put in what helped for me since maybe that does actually solve it for others.
So what I did was make the screen that I want the game to launch on the only available screen, so other screens were disabled, you can do this in your display settings on your computer, I would launch the game so now it memorizes that screen to launch on, and I would put my other screens on available again. worked like a charm it is a bit of a hassle but at least it works!

I have two monitors. Quick googling pointed to launch commands that forced it to my second monitor. So just set this command as your launch options properties for the game:

-WinX=0 -WinY=0

when you hit play on steam it should bring up launch configuration tool.. ( if not just close and re-open) there you should be able to select with monitor, mine was set to 2 so switched it to one.

I don't think I've ever seen this launch configuration tool.
