it worked a little longer after i closed msi afterburner but now it crashed again
I've been playing about with the settings and am getting a bit longer each time but it mostly seems to be the cutscenes that crashes at.
Have reinstalled my NVIDIA drivers etc, I've a GTX 3080 and it seems many others had the same issue at launch too but can't find any relevant new information if people fixed it.
Only the bog standard stuff like run in admin mode, disable ubiosoft connect overlay etc.
The game seems to be running real smooth when I do get into it but then it'll just close on me after about 2 minutes. It's so dam frustrating, haven't had a game do this before.
For me it was freezing my system but forcing the game to run as admin and launching it from the game folder rather than a launcher at least makes it CTD instead of crashing my whole rig.
There is a post about using the launch direction to disable dx11 or 12 but that seems to be a windows 11 exclusive fix and is spotty at best.
There are also reports that the game has a memory leak so allocating more of your system RAM to V-RAM can alleviate the issue (for some, didn't work for me)
I absolutely hate having to physically power down my computer so I left it for a few months. Launched Ubisoft again and there was a patch. Got into the game and froze in about 2 minutes but at least waiting it out I got a driver timeout and could restart. I'm done with this game
I recently re-installed it and upped my system allocated v-ram to see if that helps since I suspect it is a memory leak and doing that may make it playable for the 2-3 hour sessions I typically play. We'll see.
Played the game over 150 hours on a full AMD system using FSR and Frame Generation. I find it does rarely have issues getting stuck loading, but nothing worse then say MSFS will do. Also got rare second or two stutters for no apparent reason.
On X570, 32GB RAM, 7 5800X, RX 6700 XT/RX 6800 XT and SSD. Windows 11 with all updated.
Never really tracked down the reasons for my rare issues as it was so hard to repeat on demand.
But after all these hours of fun game-play, I have to say I have the feeling that while the game engine is pretty good, it is still not the most solid out there.
It's hard to "deal with it" when I can't even get past the first couple of cutscenes before it crashes. I'm actually so salty about it, paid for season pass and all just for the game not to run while it should run good on my specs.
I tried that fix you mentioned with the DLL files but no luck for me. Actually doesn't let me launch the game when I tried that.
The game for me is not playable at all.
im sitting on 537.34 and fine with AC Valhalla, Division 2 and here, decpite those games have plenty ppl with crash problem
I'm having 2 different types of crashes...
1. Sometimes when I press "play" it just instantly closes (no error)
2. When I do get it to launch it will play flawlessly, sometimes for hours, but will randomly freeze...like completely freeze...for no apparent reason. I'm running MSI Afterburner so can see temps, memory usage, CPU usage, etc and everything appears to be normal. I have to force quit the game via task manager and it records an "Application Hang" in the Windows event viewer.
RTX 4070 Ti Super with i7 13700KF and 32GB DDR5 6000 CL30 playing at 1440p Ultra with Ultra Quality DLSS for some extra FPS.
It is very heavy on the PC even mine struggles with FPS and no matter what I do it doesn't seem to help. For reference I have a 2080ti, i7 17000kf and 16gb Ram with a 240hz monitor. The ram is most likely what does me in with this game. Although it is beautiful because of this it will be hard to maintain a steady FPS. If yall have found something that has helped you that would be awesome, but so far lowering the graphics doesn't really help.
Another fix that I don't want to try is to force the game to use vulkan instead since Ubisoft hates NVIDIA users but I don't feel like messing around with the game files to that extent/learning Wine largely because it was mentioned in the same post as the ones talking about the dx12 fix that no longer works.
