This game is basically unplayable, persistent crashing (Ubisoft+)
I'm glad I didn't actually buy this game because its essentially unplayable due to the amount of crashes I've experienced. I've tried on two machines, and I still get crashing. The odd part is this game crashes way more on my desktop (5700x and 3070) than my laptop (Intel i7 10750 and 2060) making it so that I basically can't even progress on my most powerful computer. I have to play on my laptop and even there, while I can play a little longer, it still crashes too often. I've done a few hours of research to see if the problem could be fixed, and there doesn't seem to be any reliable method.

All drivers are up to date, I've tried turning off all my OC settings, I've tried changing my page file on the drive the game is installed on, adjusting game settings. I've tried many things and nothing seems to work. I do want to try seeing if launching the game with Vulkan could work, but I'm not sure what the launch command to do that is. I've read somewhere that that works for some people.

Supposedly, there have been patches that were supposed to fix the crashing issues, but it just seems to have made it worse. Don't know if they plan on fixing, but they should since this seems to be a very common issue for a significant amount of people. I wouldn't recommend the game right now because it crashes so often you can't play, and until they fix it I will not play any further.

Wonder if NVIDIA connected. Seems a notable small minority of people unable to play the game use NVIDIA cards. Not conclusive but just observed.

Like you, it crashes on both my gaming machines (and there is nothing fancy with them and there are a lot of more demanding games that perfectly run)........Usually, with this kind of problem (that sometimes happens though not very ofter)....It's always possible to find something.....Some kind of cache to delete somewhere ... I also tried tweaking graphics parameters which was also sutpid because the performance of the game are very good on my 2 machines even with evething set to ultra (until the crash which occur in a matter of minutes or even seconds)....and temp are 50-60 degrees (I cap the game at 60 fps with some quality DLSS)....

I think that with this game, if you're lucky enough it works (maybe for a notable small minority) and it's fine, or...it doesn't work and you will only lose time to try to fix this mess because nothing will work....And contacting the support won't help as they don't even look at the files you send but just repeatedly give you automatic answers to check obvious things that you already did....

I gave up on this game....I will check this in 3 months when W11 24H2 will be officially online....maybe this will work at this time by some kind of "miracle" :)

What build of Windows are you running? Mine crashed frequently and I discovered it was because I installed Windows 11 24H2. I did a fresh install of Windows 11 23H2 and did not install any optional / preview Windows updates and it runs fine.

I have about 430 hrs of playtime having played the game twice. I run it on a Intel i5 10600K CPU and an Nvidia RTX 3060 TI on Windows 11. I purchased it through Ubisoft so I don't own the Steam version. If the OP hasn't done so this game needs to be on an SSD like a Samsung 870 EVO or a Samsung 980 M.2 NVMe SSD. I had it installed on a mechanical drive at first and had all sorts of problems.

I haven’t experienced any crashes so far, which might be related to Intel CPUs, particularly the 13th and 14th Gen.

System Specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5800X
Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS
RAM: 64 GB 3600 MHz
GPU: GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16GB
Storage: Samsung NVME M2 990 Pro 1TB
OS: Windows 11 23H2
With 87 hours in the game and using the PureDark DLSS3 Frame Generation Mod, I’ve had no crashes.

Note: Your 3070 might be running out of VRAM. Avoid max settings as it lacks sufficient VRAM. My 4080 Super nearly maxes out its 16 GB VRAM in 4K with max details and DLSS3 Frame Generation Mod.

In gaming, the GPU uses VRAM for fast rendering. If VRAM is full, the system resorts to RAM, which is slower due to the PCIe bus, potentially causing stuttering, lower frame rates, and crashes.

What kind of drive do you have it on?
