"Update required"
Every time I try to launch the game, I get a box pop up from Steam saying "Update required - a newer version of the Steam client is needed"

The first time it happened, sure I clicked update and Steam relaunched and I figured OK cool. But it keeps happening every single time I try to play the game. I searched here and found no topics about this, so am I the ONLY person getting this issue?

Yeah, it's installed and updated (I even switched back to the non-beta version of the client to see if that could be an issue). I've verified files several times now, reinstalled several times now, rebooted in between etc. etc. Nothing, and since no one has responded yet until you have, I'm guessing I'm literally the only one with the issue or it's super rare. Yay.

Did you try clicking "check for steam client updates" after clicking the steam icon above.
Sometimes steam doesn't auto update properly.

Like I did just now, and It shows me that I can download an update. And then apply and restart steam.

Yes, there was an update yesterday at one point but other than that there have been no client updates for Steam for me to "update" too lol

Hey LOC,

Apologies for the late response.
Are you still experiencing this issue?
If yes, run both, UC and Steam clients as administrator.

Try downloading and launching the game from UC library directly.

I've tried running both clients as administrator actually. As for running directly from the UC launcher, I can't since it hasn't launched through Steam yet for it to be added to my UC library properly yet :( but thanks for the response. I assume this must be a super rare issue, since there hasn't been many responses yet.

No, I haven't seen such an issue reported anywhere else. Sorry.
Is your Steam installed in the default location on the C drive?

Do you have any other, unnecessary software running in the background?
If yes, try disabling everything.

About your previous statement you installed the non-beta version of UC.
They do not exist anymore. A non-beta version will now be an outdated version.

Make sure you download the latest one from here: https://ubi.li/YVY0k

I have Steam installed on C and an install folder for games on D (which Pandora is installed on, I don't have the room for it on C I'm afraid).

The only thing running in the background are the necessary Windows services and Steam obviously. I've been using the "beta" version of UC for months, last I checked it was the latest version of the software available to me.

Ok update. The game randomly just launched for apparently no reason lol we had a thunderstorm so I shut my PC off for a little while and when I was back on and had Steam running, I tried launching the game and it just worked fine. So, thanks for the help anyway Vinci, always nice seeing a dev/support staff/etc. on the Steam forums helping out. I don't know if it was a Steam issue, a game issue, a my PC issue, but it seems to be resolved now lol
