Play as the Humans?
Can you play as the humans in this game? I'm getting tired of being shoehorned into playing the bad guys in these games when I really want to play as the humans and, ya know, work to save the species.

The source material also states the massacre of the Navi by the RDA was a direct result of Navi attacks on the RDA.
The source material states that the Navi attacked the RDA because they started mining, which the source material also states the humans NEED to do in order to meet power requirements.

I never said the humans are benevolent. I have said that the Navi are not the innocents and are, in fact, aggressors. The RDA and humanity, however, is not malevolent either, or they would have already exterminated the entirety of the Navi through orbital bombardment using metal rods or even just meteors of sufficient size.

You can be 'convinced' all you like but you conveniently ignore parts of the lore that go against your stance.

in this game, the RDA stoop so low, and they are getting so desperate, they crash an entire Valkyrie shuttle full of explosives into one of the camps in the sky breaker DLC, akin to looking like something like a terrorist attack. They are willing to not just kill non combative Navi, but also needlessly kill the zakru, which are literally Pandora's version of elephants. The RDA has hunted Zakru in the story for their horns and bones, and even though John Mercer didn't approve of it, the fact that a member of the RDA like colonel Harding is willing to hunt these gentle elephant analogues is messed up, which means that if you support the RDA and take them seriously, then technically you support elephant, as well as other animal poaching as well.
The length the writers would go to make humans into cartoon villains is laughable. You understand that the only reason they write the RDA like that is solely because the original lore makes you want to side with the RDA and not the Navi?

Humans are not the bad guys in the story, but the writers desperately wants you so much to be against humans and for Navi that they give the humans petty villain motives like poaching for elephant tasks. Its pathetic.

Humans are for the biggest part the main antagonists in Avatar. I'm confused by this question.

Still hope for some RDA DLC?

If so, count me interested

Make a whole campaign and I'll buy the big'un edition

Ubisoft made it clear, there will not be possible to play as RDA.

Game is a hard pass then.

Right, because the race that approached the Navi to negotiate for mining rights over a material critical to keeping billions alive and only resorted to violence when the Navi attacked them *repeatedly* is the bad guy race. You really gotta learn to pay attention to tiny things like background story.

If you could play as humans i would give this game a chance. Fighting against the navi hordes. Or other humans. And establishing your own place. Would be cool

It's a simple question, they're asking to get blocked by you and me and anyone who ain't a racist xenophobe.

Besides not a single person in this thread owns the game on steam, besides me.

I, too, would like to play as the RDA; this could have been a baller mech game.

Edit:
If buying the most expensive version of the game let me play as Col. Quaritch in a mech suit, I'd probably already have over 100 hours in this game. That dude was legit, and based af. Died like a hero trying to stop that traitor.

Well, back to Helldivers 2 I go.

There was a game that came out on the PS2 (I think, could be a different console) shortly after Avatar released that was part of the lore that showed the first 'war' between the humans and the Navi and it was very clearly stated that the Navi started it. In it you could play as a human soldier and even had the option to go traitor later on in the game or remain loyal to humanity. The fact this game doesn't have that shows that, much like the movie Avatar, storytelling has taken a back seat to pushing players to pick a specific side and distract them from a presumed lousy story with fancy graphics.

Also, calling someone a racist xenophobe? Really? Way to show you don't have an argument but can't simply leave it at 'I disagree' and move on.

The Navi should have a taste of liberty.
