Need help before I refund
So I have 2 GTX1080s, one can get me 30-40FPS with everything maxed except 2 shadow settings in 4K,

How can I
A) Run this game in DX11
B) Force SLI (Tried Nvidia Inspector, genuinely feels like its blocked or something)

Also why can't I play on my laptop while on the go?

Never buy a new pc. Build a new pc. Is that what you mean?

Sadly you will have to forfeit your laptop. As I said i did it with my 15 yr old rig. Btw, that is some serious money for a laptop £7500! I mean in my 34 years of having 2 built PCs before learning to build my own, I haven’t spent close to that sort of money and I probably had about 7 PCs all having upgrades done to them.
One thing I would never have is a gaming laptop, purely because of heat, and they are pretty much dead-end going forwards.
I’ve fully customised and built chassis from bits and pieces. Cold cathodes, fluorescent fans, LED switches, bass port intakes, handles from B&Q (lol) Perspex windows on the side jigsawed out - loooooong before they were ever sold commercially like today. I have pictures taken with a real practika camera and Kodak film ;)

Put it this way, this PC I built, is the best gaming PC I have owned in my 34 yrs regards performance and features and most of all value.

I’m playing Cyberpunk at 1440 @120fps max detail using DLSS/Ray Tracing

My 28” VisionMaster gaming monitor does 120, 144 and 165Hz at 1440P plus FreeSync on a DP cable.

If you want easy 4K gaming, then your talking an RTX 4070 Super or TI.
Since the crash and covid, finding deals are hard. Everything is artificially inflated.
If Trump hits China with tariffs, then you may find that GPUs and the like with jump off the scale as China retaliates.
Ironically the whole world has nearly everything made in China inc car part,TVs, game consoles and of course PC components as i said.
You will have something in every house in the western world made by them.

Anyway.

Remember the *whole* thing cost me around £800 inc chassis, and monitor. My wireless solar keyboard and mouse came ‘over’ from my old rig.

Remember build it don’t buy it!
Look up the GT83VR 7RF that is the closest you can get to my laptop after the SLI 3000 made with he MSI barebones was taken down. Had to send this laptop back to Poland 3-4 times to get it fixed with some of its timing issues.

This is the only gaming laptop I will have so long as laptops get slimmer and less self upgradable.

Also I meant never building a computer with anything after the 10980XE till the newer gens mature and become something worth building for the many ways I.T incorporates into my life.

My last computer was
CPU: 10980XE already 1000GBP
RAM: 254GB of RAM 1000GBP
GPU: 3x2080 Supers FTW3 which was 600GBP so 1800GBP
PSU: Corsair AX1600 around 800-1000

Thats already over 4.5K without talking about mobo, the DC fans, The cooler, 48U double sided telecom rack its in.

So it would be very easy for me to also build and store new PC's I have made dozens from gaming servers, to AI role-play that I would host, to using my NAS to store and share media.
Worked in I.T for a few years before being forced out due to my mother moving me to Cyprus.

My laptop also supports both MX Switches and I'm waiting for the thermal grizzly extreme to arrive so I can upgrade the M.2s as a frend of mine got upset seeing my 254GB Raid 0's at 80% capacity used all the time.

They didn't understand how my laptop worked so had to wait for another M.2 to arrive, then the thermal paste, pads and liquid metal for the main heat-sinks to be removed.

Plus last time I tried 3mm pads for the left GPU and its now raising the cooler from the GPU die so the liquid metal is no longer in contact as much as it should be. Waiting on the new liquid metal to fix that.

Laptop has 4 separate heat-sinks.
1 For left GPU that covers the left rear and left port
1 for the right GPU that covers the right rear and right port
1 CPU that covers the rear exhaust and goes in-front of the GPU's heat-sinks
1 that goes behind the HEPA filter on the bottom intake.

M.2s had their metal cover that pooled the Raid 0's into a single heat-sink and replaced them with two active coolers to prevent thermal throttle.
CD bay has been replaced with an M.2 and fan combo to suck heat out from under my top bay.

I bought 3 sub-woofer replacements and using an amp I split the wire from the sound card to it.

I also plan on getting a 4K screen with a controller board whenever replacement parts of the newest MSI laptop becomes available, kind of waiting for at least OLED through.

Currently using the thunderbolt for my external M.2 while on the go and for a docking station when I have the energy to set it up xD

Using GP ultimate on a lot of the parts that are not suited for liquid metal and foam and liquid metal for the rest.

I also use surface purifier and cleaner before doing anything and something I want to do in the future is get a silicone case made for my laptop so my magnetic USB adapters don't stick out as much and I can finally stop using the dust covers

I have more then enough room to move the newer laptop boards into my current laptop and just use control boards to handle display change, but I'm going to be honest, the first thing Google recommends is the word overheating as a suggestion on most new laptops xD

So many complaining about it. I'm happy with my lappy, runs at 48C which is half of what my old L502X ran at when gaming, that thing would reach 105C on the GPU and only used a single heat pipe which ran over the CPU before reaching the heatsink.
So the CPU that throttled at 95C would get 105C forced over it, was a mess of a system, but very beautiful, nice to use, hold and great for utility, it was the only design issue in my mind. This is the 2011 model I'm talking about.
Also want to replace the SD card slot with a SIM card slot and got some ALFA antennas that I just received yesterday and currently am trying to figure the best way to file plastic down to smooth it out for the antenna N connector to sit, so it can be mounted by screws to a plate under.

I did want to take my RTX2080's and place them in my laptop but the laptop doesn't have power pins and making a circuit so the laptop could handle the shunt from its power supplys, down to a single 97W battery would be too much for me to do.

Already too much strain on the little capacitor at the back of my laptop just from unplugging the laptop while two GTX1080's are powered up, if you do it on turbo mode the laptop just shuts off instead of trying to cut down the power

Also I haven't bought a pre-built besides laptops and my first two computers and that was what 2004 xD

I hate prebuilds, cheap, usually made of parts that no one wants, things that were left in oversupply. I would rather save my money then waste it on something prebuilt.

I also lover to tinker and have the pain of watching my mother buy a Facebook prebuild that has 5 fans all daisy changed together off a 12V line, so DC regular PC fans with a 1050 mini in it, no... just no.

But even in todays standard I would never advise anyone to "Build" or get a computer till things settle down, things are not mature yet so if people can last a few more years and not give into desperation, that would be my advice.

SLI is long dead, was only good in a handful of titles, all old now. No one has supported it for years
SLI is dead and you're attempting necromancy, to your own frustration. Get yourself a 3080 or even 3090 in a few months after the 50 series makes the 30 series cheaper.

Actually SLI works with most stuff using DirectX 11 and older.

You just have to use Comparability bits to tell the cards how aggressive to be vs how accurate to be and what to avoid to prevent issues from occurring.

Avatar Frontiers of Pandora has been one of the first titles that hasn't worked with it.
Got it working with Palworld, Helldivers, Icarus, and any game that it doesn't work with you can use AI on the second card to add generated frames between frames.

Which is hilarious as apparently that is what is rumored to being released by Nvidia soon with some of the newer cards. entering a world of fake performance.

Even the GTX series can still get 120FPS on a lot of games so long as SLI is in use. So the technology is still having an affect on this present age as its spared me a ton of money from upgrading to the newer cards. It does mean to enable Raytracing I take a massive hit but running at 50-60FPS with raytracing isn't really an issue to me. Fallout 4 and Skyrim also enjoy my setup which are moddable games for the ages to me.

Just need to get an understanding of how to use Nvidia Profile Inspector

Not really my frustration, if the game doesn't support it, it doesn't support it, just means I'm not interested in the title. I see it as a con to the game for it not to be implemented. Nvidia basically declared that its up to game devs to now implement support, cutting of DirectX 11 and not opening DirectX 12 to the old hardware to me is the same as a game just not having a feature. Without it I just see it as a negative.

Many people sadly don't understand how to tweak a computer and just waste money on purely cosmetic upgrades it feels to me.

Laptops 8 years old now, still gets more then 60FPS and in most cases 90-120FPS
For enjoying games and using AI what do I really need more?

Got a brand new Wi-FI card. Got two new M.2 drives coming for the 3rd and 4th bays.
The First and Second will soon be replaced with 2TB kindly gifted by a friend of mine and will be in Raid 0

Comparing my laptop to a newer laptop
RAIDER HX18 A14VIG (Random example)
18 Inch screen 120Hz MiniLED 40Pin 3840x2400
CPU: 5.8GHz (Only desirable part of it, just wish it didn't come with such limits as well)
GPU: RTX 4090
RAM 32x2 (DDR5) up to 192GB if you want to throw away what comes with it and upgrade to 4 slots and not 2 slots
M.2: 2TB NVME PCIE4 (So the same speed as 2 in Gen 3 in RAID 0)
M.2: Gen4 and Gen5 slot (Not really something I personally need and can't raid that so no future proofing, take that back to consoles xD)
Webcam: Basically the same as mine
Speakers: 4x2W
Woofer: 2x2W
Soundcard: Similar in fact you can get Nahmic drivers that allow older cards to use newer features
Keyboard: RGB but gross laptop keys
Audio port: 1x combo jack
USB's: 3xType-A USB3.2 Gen2
2x Thunderbolt 4
Video Port: HDMI 2.1
Card reader: SD express
Lan: Killer
Wi-Fi: Killer BE1750
Security: Only difference is Fingerprint security
Power adaptor: 330w
Weight: 3.6KG

Vs

18.4 Inch screen 60 overclocked to 100Hz (Plan to get a new screen when theres a decent OLED 40pin and controllerboard combo) Also got a 66 Inch CX OLED no rush to move from that.
CPU: 4.4GHz overclockable to 5.1GHz
GPU: 2xGTX1080
RAM 16x4 (DDR4) So same speed in channel as to what I would buy without going aftermarket
M.2: 2x2TB NVME PCIE3 Raid 0 (So the same speed)
M.2: 2x2TB
Webcam: Basically the same 1080p 30FPS due to limited bandwidth they both have with number of PCIE lanes dedicated to the camera.
Speakers: 4x3W
Woofer: 2x3W
Soundcard: Nahmic internal soundcard with extra headphone jack
Keyboard: Full mechanical MX Cherry full RGB
Audio port: 1x combo jack (Line in, Headphones) 1xMicrophone 1xHeadphones
USB's: 5xType-A USB3.2 Gen2
2x Thunderbolt 3
Video Port: 1x HDMI 1xMini display
Card reader: Replaced with M.2 slot, soon to be network broadband
Lan: Killer
Wi-Fi: Killer BE1750x
Security: NFC for my Yubi-key
Power adaptor: 2x330w
Weight: 8KG+
ODD bay: Came with blueray, replaced with fans to cool down M.2 and RAM so air can move left to right through the M.2 and RAMs heatsinks

Not to mention the chunky heatsink on my laptop. I would hate to be newer laptops getting thermal throttled when I sit at a nice 28-34C idle and 48-64C under load

Not even undervolting as I'm overclocking and have had it overclocked for a long time.
Not to mention with how chonky it is, I get away with putting so many upgrades on it like a Wi-Fi amp in the hinge rear cover, or Wi-Fi N connector antennas in the shoulders

The power I have in excess is also really freeing for me to personalize it.

Not about to take out a 5K loan just to buy a new laptop that starts out with half the RAM capacity and while the processor is nice the rest is similar if not lower spec then mine.
Plus I worked the audio on mine, not gonna wait years to do that with a newer laptop, not until CPU's return to 254GB of RAM and lose the baby status to me. Plus 40pin is 40pin so eventually I will have the same display. The rest like the ugly slim looks I will leave to the newer generation xD

Plus got a replacement motherboard, hinges, covers, basil and backpanel, front cover, keyboard, trackpad + buttons, power button, pretty much been getting all the cheap replacement parts so if I mess up a modification or if something breaks I can replace it.

I love the extended case and the fact I could more then likely place a motherboard adaptor into my laptop case along with one of the modern slim laptops into my laptop and it fit is 100% another reason why I love the chonk

Plus look at how ugly the HX18 is. mine is a modified barebones of the GT83VR its got a nice weight to it, decent battery life (Even more so with the fact mine can disable the dGPUs in order to use the intergrated, battery life skyrockets)

Just little use to me upgrading to something newer when mine is so robust already.

Plus with getting kicked out of my home around the corner having so many spare parts and a laptop with filters already installed to handle the outdoor condition better and dust caps for all the ports is a must to me regardless, not to mention I could snap a HX18 over my knee and I'm not a very strong person. While my laptop would take quite a few good goes and with the industrial design of the 9-11 heat spreaders and full mechanical keyboard that has metal around the top and bottom I'm very doubtful I could snap that with it closed.

Jesus dude. That's like coming in here and asking how you can win the WRC with a ♥♥♥♥ box toyota. 1080s are barely going to run this game at 1080p. You can't expect devs to try and make games that are going to run on what, 12 year old hardware?

Actually the FPS wasn't too awful, 30-40 maxed out. A 1080 besides lighting is basically a 3060 with actually better reflection handling by default but no Ray-tracing cores so still a 3x drop if you were to use Ray-tracing on it.

But 30-40 with two GPUs is a solid 60. For being on a laptop and out and about I feel that isn't outdated yet, I've done compatibility bits for most of my games, its not supported with DirectX12 so if the devs are going to upgrade to DirectX12 and refuse backwards compatibility then I feel they should at least implement what they have now blocked consumers from doing. Couldn't find a shred of information why Nvidia Inspector had no ability to alter the DX12 SLI settings.

I guess its just the age of DirectX12 only games, just not sure why its so hard to have DirectX11 API support remain, just limits the number of buyers.

But the short end of the stick is, this game was running at half of 60-80FPS I consider that running so long as its not a PVP game where I desire 120-144

Plus even a 3090 is litrally on avarage 105% faster then my GPU, but I have two, so what with the loss in performance from a good SLI tune thats maybe 115-125% faster then my setup, just watched a video and yeah... 60-85 FPS so not even a multiple of 60 or even a plus of 30. So I would need at least a 4090 and to give up a lot of other stuff in order to do that for no reason.

PCIE4 runs at double the bandwidth. I have two PCIE3s but my laptop doesn't have power pins to support larger cards and I'm not about to wire that stuff up.

Plus nothing wrong with the Duel 1080's this is honestly one of the first games I've had issues with besides Tarkov and I found that was because I was running in single card mode at the time and Nvidia Whisper was a new thing I never knew about due to always having two cards xD
