DLSS or FSR? for Nvidia GPU

7800x3d - 4070 Ti Super - 4k OLED screen

I tried using AMD FSR with frame gen on, it played at 100-120 fps (just in the opening area after start with the vegetation) but it felt kinda laggy idk, it's hard to explain

Switched to DLSS on performance and scaling fixed, 90 -100 fps but feels much smoother

What do you guys use on a nvidia gpu?

I use DLSS, I'd rather have the better upscaler and I'm on a weaker 4070 than you are. I can get basically playable frame rates at 1440p (60-75fps) using Performance level upscaling at high settings. That's good enough for me but if you aren't happy with the performance from DLSS then use FSR frame gen (although it will look worse but not that bad if you stick with Quality mode).

the only game where fsr is better option is The Last of Us part 1 (and only bc they broke dlss with one of the updates)

DLSS upscaling, yes. If you’re ever wondering about a game, Nvidia has a list of all the games with a breakdown of what DLSS features, Ray Tracing, and FG.

No frame gen on DLSS awww shame. I hear there is a payed mod by PureDark.

Does any one know if there is a free version of frame gen made by someone?
If there is not, if I paid once instead of subscription each month, will the mod still work? I only want to pay once!

Yeah it sucks, I heard pure dark was putting other software into his mod to check if you have an active patreon subscription and this was last year during the release of Starfield. No idea about other frame gen mods specifically for Avatar. I would just use FSR FG instead of paying a modder. I wouldn’t have a problem with it if he sold his mods outright but I refuse to pay an ongoing monthly subscription to access a mod. That’s dumb unless you just have so much money that it doesn’t matter what you do with it, I don’t have that much.

Yeah it sucks, I’m really sick of everybody and anybody having their own Patreon. I support it in the case of someone like Digital Foundry since they make highly specialized content that most people couldn’t replicate AND they put all their videos up for free on YouTube.

Here’s a link I found talking about Pure Dark, supposedly if you pay and then cancel, the mod will work until the game gets an update. But his mods could have stricter DRM now too as this was a year old.
