Same here, I literary can't even get past the first cutscene without it just crashing. All my drivers are up to date. If I can't get passed the crashes in the next hour im refunding. Had literally been waiting for this game to come to steam too...

I've been playing about with the settings and am getting a bit longer each time but it mostly seems to be the cutscenes that crashes at.

Have reinstalled my NVIDIA drivers etc, I've a GTX 3080 and it seems many others had the same issue at launch too but can't find any relevant new information if people fixed it.

Only the bog standard stuff like run in admin mode, disable ubiosoft connect overlay etc.

The game seems to be running real smooth when I do get into it but then it'll just close on me after about 2 minutes. It's so dam frustrating, haven't had a game do this before.

The game is 6 months old, I too have crashed a couple times and googling around it seems there have always been crash issues with the PC release. There are a couple fixes but generally you just have to deal with it.

For me it was freezing my system but forcing the game to run as admin and launching it from the game folder rather than a launcher at least makes it CTD instead of crashing my whole rig.

There is a post about using the launch direction to disable dx11 or 12 but that seems to be a windows 11 exclusive fix and is spotty at best.

There are also reports that the game has a memory leak so allocating more of your system RAM to V-RAM can alleviate the issue (for some, didn't work for me)

I bought this game at launch, was really interested in testing out the frame generation from AMD. That works well, but the game itself would hard lock my PC after 15minutes or 2 hours... it's random.

I absolutely hate having to physically power down my computer so I left it for a few months. Launched Ubisoft again and there was a patch. Got into the game and froze in about 2 minutes but at least waiting it out I got a driver timeout and could restart. I'm done with this game

Keep an eye on your return window. I made the mistake buying the key from Green Man so I'm stuck. Sad thing is I actually like the game, and have had times where I could play for hours. What is weird is it usually freeze during a scripted animation like turning a valve.

Like I said, running from the game file as admin seems to prevent the lock-up, instead when it crashes it just crashes to desktop.

I recently re-installed it and upped my system allocated v-ram to see if that helps since I suspect it is a memory leak and doing that may make it playable for the 2-3 hour sessions I typically play. We'll see.

Played the game over 150 hours on a full AMD system using FSR and Frame Generation. I find it does rarely have issues getting stuck loading, but nothing worse then say MSFS will do. Also got rare second or two stutters for no apparent reason.

On X570, 32GB RAM, 7 5800X, RX 6700 XT/RX 6800 XT and SSD. Windows 11 with all updated.

Never really tracked down the reasons for my rare issues as it was so hard to repeat on demand.

But after all these hours of fun game-play, I have to say I have the feeling that while the game engine is pretty good, it is still not the most solid out there.

I wasn't a fan of the dithering fade, I turned that off and it seems much better. I still don't notice any pop ins...

It's hard to "deal with it" when I can't even get past the first couple of cutscenes before it crashes. I'm actually so salty about it, paid for season pass and all just for the game not to run while it should run good on my specs.

I tried that fix you mentioned with the DLL files but no luck for me. Actually doesn't let me launch the game when I tried that.

The game for me is not playable at all.:steamsad:

since when ubisoft sided with AMD, their games have problems with nvidia drivers. its worth to try some older drivers

im sitting on 537.34 and fine with AC Valhalla, Division 2 and here, decpite those games have plenty ppl with crash problem

Mess around with the settings, I managed to find some that have made the game go 2 hours now no crash. It really doesn't seem to like it when you use a custom graphics setting so just stick with default settings. Unfortunately as mentioned they hate NVIDIA users so you may be forced to use the low graphics setting. There are texture mods for the game though which get around the settings somewhat.

Just want to say I'm also experiencing crashes and I never used to (not before the 1.05 update that is). I am playing on the ubisoft plus version, however.

I'm having 2 different types of crashes...

1. Sometimes when I press "play" it just instantly closes (no error)

2. When I do get it to launch it will play flawlessly, sometimes for hours, but will randomly freeze...like completely freeze...for no apparent reason. I'm running MSI Afterburner so can see temps, memory usage, CPU usage, etc and everything appears to be normal. I have to force quit the game via task manager and it records an "Application Hang" in the Windows event viewer.

RTX 4070 Ti Super with i7 13700KF and 32GB DDR5 6000 CL30 playing at 1440p Ultra with Ultra Quality DLSS for some extra FPS.

Crashing? Game not loading?
Hey yall, just wanted to make this discussion about AFOP, first I want to start off with if your crashing, things aren't loading or rendering properly. Please make sure you have your game downloaded on an SSD (Solar State Drive). Otherwise if it is downloaded on a HDD it will not have the speed that you would need for a game like this things simply wont work or load at all.

It is very heavy on the PC even mine struggles with FPS and no matter what I do it doesn't seem to help. For reference I have a 2080ti, i7 17000kf and 16gb Ram with a 240hz monitor. The ram is most likely what does me in with this game. Although it is beautiful because of this it will be hard to maintain a steady FPS. If yall have found something that has helped you that would be awesome, but so far lowering the graphics doesn't really help.

Hopefully it is just a new bug that will get worked out when this new DLC comes out. Because yeah looking at reddit posts for it and prior to this steam release there were like 4 months of nobody posting that they were crashing OR the fixes people had found were working. Now? I mean it is a crap shoot if any of the fixes still work. Heck on fix that involved using a different dx12 dll doesn't work because the new version of that folder doesn't have the dx12 version and the game uses dx12, trying to force it to use dx11 (at least as far as I've tried) doesn't work so that fix is out.

Another fix that I don't want to try is to force the game to use vulkan instead since Ubisoft hates NVIDIA users but I don't feel like messing around with the game files to that extent/learning Wine largely because it was mentioned in the same post as the ones talking about the dx12 fix that no longer works.
