On the one hand I do like the older Far Cry games, on the other hand... I like the *Far cry games* this just kinda feels like a cheap reskin in some areas. The graphics are nice! But you can tell it's a ubisoft game with the same Jank all their games seem to have....
The story was also fairly boring but that's subjective. Well.. it's all subjective I suppose but you get what I mean. Found it to be "Meh"
not overly fond of avatar itself, but the graphics are amazing and i find the gameplay loop relaxing
I was also worried about the forced ray tracing but it seems to run great, getting 112fps average in the benchmark on Ultra.
I only played for 1 hour so far, I'm not frustrated yet but we'll see...
Played over 150 hours.
For me the game is not the second coming but beautiful, competent, good and bad but no worse then many other games out there. I clearly do not regret buying it.
Is the base game worth $70? TBH I think no. But at the same time I really think the development team tried to recreate a extremely beautiful world that I love to explore.
So do not expect BG3 or Elden Ring, but more of a run-of-the-mill competent yet basic game-play set in an interesting open-world.
And UbiSoft never really promised anything beyond that.
Much of the anti-climatic hype floating around was generated by players in their minds.
So far I'm liking the game though, we'll see if that sticks...
Plenty of game publishers have pretty bad history. UboSoft is not the only one.
Seems it is more of 'the favor of the month' for those who just like to stir things up. Pick on something and blow it totally out of proportion, to seem relevant and cool.
Which publisher will it be next?
All that to say that I have about 8hrs in the game and I am liking it. For me the game looks and runs great. I like that it is an FPS rather than 3rd person. The gameplay loop is enjoyable for me, and I am a fan of the movies. So for me it's a win. But to each their own, so your mileage may vary.
I took a ubi+ sub a couple of months ago, played a couple of hours of avatar and AC mirage.
Mirage was painful and bad.
Avatar has nice graphics, which kept me playing for just a couple of hours.
Then I quickly cancelled my ubi+ sub.
Let's just say it will take a tremendous effort from ubisoft to ever see any cent from me ever again.
