Following the March playtest, we've been hard at work improving every aspect of Mithrall based on your feedback. This update brings a massive wave of new features, UI overhauls, tool reworks, and gameplay polish.

We’re also thrilled to announce that the next playtest is happening this weekend — and this time, registrations are directly on Steam!

The crafting quality system was completely reworked!

Previously, players reached Masterpiece quality too quickly. With the new system, the "quality band" progresses with skill level, making higher-tier results a meaningful achievement.

We’ve added a brand new context menu in the chat UI!

This system will soon expand across other game systems such as clan management and Influence Chests.

We’ve added tons of tools to build dynamic puzzle gameplay and interactive dungeon logic:

• Player/enemy detection zones

• Levers with sound, rotation, and reset behavior
  
• Delay-based logic (e.g. delayed chests after puzzle solved)
  
• Global FX spawner (visuals, sounds, particles)
  
• Enhanced dungeon receptacles and interactive sequences

Every devblog brings a new theme track — this time, welcome to Keriathor’s Forest. A blend of bagpipes and piano sets a mystical and slightly dark tone, evoking both beauty and danger.

Players can now buy horses in the starting area and begin riding across Mithrall! This is just the beginning of the mount system — more types will come in future updates.

Hello, adventurers! It’s been a long time since our last devblog, but that’s because we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to bring Mithrall to the next level. Today, we’re thrilled to share a massive update with new content, improved systems, fresh visuals, and, of course, details about the next playtest!

Now, let’s dive into everything we’ve been working on!


We’ve been working on new tutorial systems to make the game more accessible while still keeping the freedom that Mithrall is all about. New tutorial videos have been added to the game, covering:

✅ Movements
✅ Collecting Resources
✅ Primitive Crafting
✅ Active Crafting (Workbenches)
✅ Tailor Workbench
✅ Corpse Harvesting
✅ Combat

These tutorials will help newcomers get started while keeping the learning process immersive and engaging.

🔊 Etherion Highlands Theme

The maps are growing, and with them, new soundscapes to create an immersive experience. This new music composition has three distinct phases that build toward an emotional climax, blending:

🎻 Strings & Harp – To create a mystical feel
🎷 Wind Instruments – Such as clarinet & English horn for rich melodies
🎺 Brass – To intensify dramatic moments

🔊 Animals & Creatures Sounds

We’ve also overhauled the sound detection system for animals and creatures to make sure they’re easily recognizable in the world, no more straining your ears to hear distant threats!

🏗️ New Character Rendering System (Julien)

Previously, our characters used multiple skinned mesh renderers, making performance heavy when many players were in one place.

Now, we’ve implemented UMA (Unity Multipurpose Avatar), which:✅ Optimizes character performance – fewer draw calls, better FPS
✅ Reduces texture load – everything is now merged into one mesh

The world of Mithrall is expanding! We’ve created new areas, improving diversity in environments, from lush forests to open plains and dangerous enemy lairs.

🌿 Esmerald Meadows – A dynamic area where players can build, trade, and fight

⚔️ New Zone System – Green, Orange & Black Zones (Timothée)

To balance PvP, building, and exploration, we’ve reworked our zone system!

✅ Green Zones – Safe areas, no PvP, no building (towns, spawn points)
✅ Orange Zones – PvP optional (Bandits can attack, but will be marked hostile)
✅ Black Zones – Full PvP, open-world danger, build anywhere, Claim Territory

💡 New Features:
✔️ Dynamic Zones – Special areas that override server-wide rules
✔️ Green Safe Zones at Region Entrances – Prevents spawn camping
✔️ PvP Arenas in Green Zones – Controlled battle zones
✔️ Realm Tax System in Orange Zones – Auto-applied game tax in controlled areas
✔️ Optimized Map Loading – Load times reduced from 10 min (in some cases) to 1-2 min!

🍺 New Crafting Stations & Mounts (Jacob)

🏗️ New Structures:

• Brewing Station – Where dwarves brew legendary drinks! 🍻
• Cooking Stations – Each tier brings new possibilities 🍖

🏇 Mounts are here! Currently, there are two different mounts, but our goal is to make all wild creatures mountable in the future!

🛠 Side Note: Server Meshing Fixes & General Improvements

We’ve worked hard to fix a lot of issues with server meshing from the last playtest. Thanks to community feedback, we’ve been able to optimize performance, improve player synchronization, and make significant stability upgrades.

✅ Major bug fixes from the last playtest
✅ Server meshing is now much smoother
✅ Performance optimizations for large-scale battles & interactions
