Can’t find another game like that
I absolutely love this game.
I keep going back to it, but would greatly enjoy discovering a new one for once !

Do you have any recommendation for a similar game ?

I’ve tried many « metroidvania-like » (I don’t really know what it means to be honest), but none of them offered a proper character progression.

Hollow knight, blasphemous… are just not for me.

There’s salt and sacrifice of course, but I’m not convinced the whole monster hunter thing would click for me.

I will still buy it at some point to support the devs I guess.

Vigil the longest night. Has a bit more focus on Story but it's a great game.

I've played quite a few "Souls-like" games, and Salt and Sanctuary definitely stands out on its own. However, there are some other 2D games with similar elements worth checking out. One of my personal favorites that I've replayed a few times is Death's Gambit: Afterlife, though it’s worth noting that its non-skippable story can be a bit of a hassle. I also completed Elderand and The Tarnishing of Juxtia—while they’re not as polished, I found them enjoyable enough to finish. On the other hand, I didn’t really get along with Grime due to its floaty controls, but I can see how others might enjoy it.
Moonscars is pretty enjoyable. Very heavy on parrying enemies though, and if you don't get it down, the enemies will really punish you. It has a decent character upgrade system.

I second Vigil and Dark Devotion, both are great games. Vigil comes the closest to Salt & Sanctuary, I'd say. Dark Devotion is a roguelike but with souls-like gameplay. Both offer amazing atmospheres that are just as dark and cold as that of Sanctuary.

Also, Salt & Sacrifice will probably still scratch the same itch, at least it did for me. The Monster Hunter aspect isn't as pronounced as you might think, it's still a souls-like first and foremost.

There's also Tails of Iron, but its combat is a bit different and much more parry focused. I haven't finished it yet, but I think it's worth taking a look at.

Shadow Complex Remastered. Check out some gameplay on YouTube first, but yeah, it's awesome.

Salt and sanctuary is by far the best 2d game combining multiple elements. This game only lacks ng+ content and good music imo.
It has deep lore, build variety, exploration, multiple long side quest, rpg-like leveling system, cool art style, souls-like turn-based combat, long playtime, cheap price and low requirement on hardware.

Anyway, I recommend trying out Ender lilies and Unworthy if you like the 2d aspect of S&S. Play dark souls series for 3d experience.

I found another game that's similar in a lot of ways, though I haven't played through the entire game to tell you if it sticks the landing. It's called Deepening Fire and it's currently around ~$4.

And don't forget, there's a nice S&S easter egg in there ;)

But for the OP... yeah, what @Musliriegel has said. Vigil was a really good game.
