Daggers viability?
How viable are daggers in this? I'd love to try a dagger build that inflicts statuses but tbh, i'm pretty bad at the game. Would I be ripping my hair out or is it fine

As far as I know, daggers have high damage per second. However, they are hard to master.

Daggers are great. Slightly more technical and versatile than other weapons. The biggest advantages are being fast enough to use openings that other weapons cannot, and the kick move (light > heavy combo) that deals strong striking damage to get around slash-resistant enemies. The prime disadvantages are short range and poor stagger, which can be mitigated with experience, and really only becomes a big problem in later NG+ cycles.

A poison dagger build can certainly work since daggers are easy to pressure an enemy with, but if you are not confident in your skills, you might want to try another weapon class. A weapon loses half of its front-loaded damage for the potential to poison, which is especially annoying for Pessklaw since daggers already lack per-hit damage, so the payoff lies in keeping the poison applied and being able to keep consistently striking to keep stacking it.

What about any larger interesting status based weapons. I learn towards dex but if there aren't any good ones for dex i'd be down for strength

Try tachi. This is one of the fastest one-handed swords, and it also scales purely from dexterity. If you want a longer reach and are ready to invest into willpower, try naginata or headsman's voulge — both are dexterity-based.

i played a dagger build long time ago. It was fun as hell but very frustrating at some points. I tried it until ng+2 and got tired of it. Ironically trash mob will give you a hard time while the big ones and bosses(some will melt really fast with poison build) will be incredibly fun. You will rely a lot on combos and big good, the somersault kick is a life saving.
