wands or staves?

i'm using staves, or rather magic, hard times but fun.

i was wondering what may be better, or is wands/weapon/shield more close range stuff?

Staves have the advantage of letting you use the storm ring easily.
I manly use that - and keep a lv0. weapon at hand since some ennemies are nearly immune to magic.

Wands are more reliable if you just want to keep a spell handy in your offhand and have no intention of rapping out a string of spells. For large swathes of the early game, it's the go-to option simply because mainly using spells isn't a very realistic option.
Later on, however, once you start getting some focus-restoring items and the storm ring, the two spell slots for a fire and a sky spell and enhanced spellpower of the staff makes it a no-brainer.
