Swords vs Spears ?
Hi all,

I m still at the very early stage of the game and i was wondering about the pros and cons of both swords and spears.

Spears :
  • Long range.
  • High attack power.
  • Average stamina cost.

Swords :
  • Average range.
  • Average attack power.
  • Average stamina cost.

So far spears seem quite OP compared to swords. So am i missing something that would make swords as valuable as spears at a later stage of the game ?

Well, Fhoenix has the right idea here. The Swordsman skill governs swords and greatswords, while the Pikeman skill governs spears, poleaxes, and reapers.
Comparing apple to apple is a lot harder here, especially when many of the spears have no real ability to hit major airborn targets and weigh so much more, and so many of the later swords are so *wierd*.
It's worth mentioning that a weapon's weight actually modifies its damage output too.
Greatswords tend to edge out the advantage there.

Ok thanks for the clarification guys. After a short time you get a spear that deals about 5 more damage, has a way longer range and has the same weight than your starting sword as a knight. That's why i was kinda wondering if it was representative of how spears and swords would compare to each others at a later stage of the game. So it's nice to read that it ll be a lot more balanced later.
