Hello there, i was looking in some threads and wiki(fextralife) about weapons and items on Salt and Sanctuary, and i'm trying to find some weapons that are in general not efficient, i have seeing some discussions about how the Trinity Sword is almost the same as the Scharfrichter and about the guns being not so useful on NG+, but i have started the game not so long ago, and i don't know all weapons, i using the Salt and Sanctuary Extractor to change some values(you can get here :{LINK REMOVED}) i don't know much about modding but i wanted to try making a weapon fix for the game (I know that is possible that the Developers make a Patch but i wanted to try even so), so i would like to know if anyone has a weapon that in your opinion should be fixed, and if anyone have experience in modding, please i would love a helping hand.

Guns certainly do not become unuseful in NG+. Every weapon has it's purpose, it's just many people wish every weapon was ez mode high base damage infinite scaling when the weapons in this are no different from dark souls. Weapons with high base damage are meant to be used in low lvl, early runs, while weapons with high scaling being useful for your end game characters that you plan on pushing through NG+(and I believe every weapon type has at least 1 S rank scaled weapon, including pistols). Elemental weapons often do the least damage, but add the elemental aspect to be used against specific enemies once you're knowledgable enough to know their exact weaknesses, but aren't really supposed to be used long term or in every situation. Just because you enjoy a look or an animation set a specific weapon has, which doesn't have the high stats you'd like, doesn't means it's broken, unuseful or unbalanced. This is a lot of peoples first type of game like this, so lots of people are mislead, believing that the conventions they expect from their MMORPG's or Final Fantasy games are going to apply here, when it doesn't, instead of imposing your ideas via cheats and mods what you believe is right, you need to change your outlook, especially considering this game is still being patched and the forums are still open and accepting to player imput. So when they actually do find something they messed up on they fix, but I find most of the mods that claim "better balance" are more along the lines of "Better ez mode".

Better says, this is IMHO, before I get that wave of anger about how I'm totally wrong and my opinion is ♥♥♥♥ and on ocassion, how I should kill myself. This is the internet after all and I'm afraid of having an opinion without mentioning it as thus. Even still, I'm afraid.

thanks for the input, i'm a fan of the souls series, and as you have said, is not a long term game to be pushed, is more of a replay game where you can always choose a different path and test new mechanics, but maybe i have put it wrong, is not about all the weapons, is just that some weapons are really not well put it, one exemple is the Trinity Great sword, for some reason that sword cost 100000 salt just to have a minimal dmg difference with the same attack speed and a additonal HP Leech that is very insignificant compare to the Scharfrichter, but as i said i haven't played too much (almost 48hrs i think), and i just want to give a tweak on some weapons that IMH as you said should be a little different, so i made this discussion to find if anyone have the same opinion on some weapons so i can compilate them in a pack, anyway thanks for the reply its really helpful when you see others perspective on this matter, and i really want that this mod that i making become obsolete to a patch of the developers.

However, the Trinity Great Sword is the ONLY weapon with HP leech which is why it's unique and you might consider using it(especially because you can put the leech charm on it and give it 2x leech). I personally CAN think of some things that need some balancing myself, but it's not in too dire need. (Dragons Fire used to be OP af, during patch 1.04 it was nerfed, reducing the damage significantly and they added a 2 second timer to how long you can cast the flame for. I believe only one of those nerfs were neccesary as now the spell (which is a class 4 fire spell) is now worse than the class 3 fire spell, and is way outclassed by any of the dark magic 2-4 spells)

I'm not trying to stop you from making a mod, by all means I'd love to see a moding community start to build. I've already been looking for other people who are interested in modding this game, but the developers have not made it too easy using their unique "slave file" system. The more this game picks up, and gains popularity the more we can count on the devs to produce patches, DLC, and more games around the series which we'd all love!

I really want a DLC that would e awesome, and thanks god they have nerfed the Dragon's Fire, and it really sad that you can't acess more parts of the system like the sound, i wanted first to make a mod to change boss music, giving which one a unique music, and about the HP leech, that is a little different, leech is 0.5 if im not wrong, and is for any weapon, like Eviscerator and Red Eclipse, but as you said, the mod community should grow for this game, i just hope we see more of it, i have finish some balacing in some of the weapons, and i think i will try make a retex mode on some weapons now, thanks for the reply.

The HP Leech for the charm is 50%, 0.5 your damage, as you say, but the Trinity Great Sword is the ONLY sword that has it as a passive hidden trait (and buffs do stack). I meant 2x leech as in 2x the leeching effect not 2x your damage. If you add the charm onto the Trinity Great Sword, you're leeching 1.0 your damage, so you're taking as much health back as the damage you dish out making it well worth it.

I'd like to see some more themes for bosses, and lots of fun retextures for armor and weapons, thats always been my favorite for Dark Souls as I'm a pretty big anime fan, and I would like having, for instance, Guts Great Sword, as a weapon, from Berserk.

In my opinion the only thing lacking severely in this game is the lack of music. There only seems to be 2-3 songs for the game, and 1 boss theme.

Artorias Greatsword would be awesome, the Armor would be even cooler!

Guts greatsword is fairly simple in design, would make a great test for adding mods.

I've been having some fun screwing around with weapons and such while trying to work out how to change special effects, attack speed, stamina usage etc.
Sword shooting fireballs the best.[i.imgur.com] Too bad can't make it uses spells and attack normally.

thats awesome, i think to be able to let the weapon attack and suchs you would need acess to a more powerful tool to mess with the script, like a Script extender, in this case i think you could try a dagger wand, that would be cool.

Could you perhaps make it a loadout switch? Like how you can switch between onehanded/sheld and two handed? Have it switch between the spells and its melee state?
