When's a good time to stop leveling strenght
Using the trinity greatsword combined with light armor. My strength is at 50 as of the moment is there a point in going higher or should I just pump Endurance for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles to try and reach 360< equip load so I can fast roll? (Equip load is already at 156)

Don't bother going higher than 50 in any stat. It's kind of like Dark Souls here - that's the "soft cap" or the point where you stop getting much in the way of benefits from leveling higher.

At 150, I have 40 END, 50 STR, 50 DEX, and the rest in willpower / wisdom / potions.

Along the way, try to make sure most of your stat investment is in weapons tier upgrades - they give the same amount of strength / dex / etc., but you'll be able to use more weapons the other ways. 5 STR in simple STR upgrades isn't nearly as useful as 5 STR in the final tier of swords, axes, or hammers. Grey pearls really help here.

The Trinity Hammer and Taichi are really good together for a quality (STR / DEX) build.
Technically, if you are making a 'pure' build character, you can go higher than 50. Since I have legitimately no magic, wisdom or dex, and just use greatswords, and shields. Endurance, Will and strength are my dump stats. I'm currently sitting at 200 attack power with a Jaws of death sword at level 206 or so >>

If you only use two handed weapons stop leveling strength at 34 as that is the two handed softcap.

Does stoping at the soft cap help you through NG+ and beyond?

Yes because you can put points in something else. I'd recommend wisdom for example because then you can get the spell gaurdian which doubles your damage output against bosses for around 30 seconds by creating a doppleganger which does everything you do.

But what happens after you put 50 points in Str, Will, End and Wis? Dont you take them to max 120?

Im at 50 Str, END & Will and im still on first play through. Not sure if to start wisdom now are wait til NG+ and level it gradually. I need end and will for more than wisdom. Equipment and weapons are heavy as hell

If your already at 50 in each you are way overleveled, I think I was around lvl 100 after ng and around lvl 150 after NG+.

I'm level 120 and just completed Hager's Cavern. I became concerned after reading how much more difficult NG+ was. Im playing as a paladin and I use the Mountain Breaker with shield and armor. So I figured I should aim for 120 Str, 120 ENd, 120 Wisd and 120 will. Over the course of 7 NG+ ill go from 1-H hammers and axes to 1-H Greatswords to 1-H Greathammers and Greataxes. So I will need the End and Will in order to use them effectively. This is based on the fact that I'll need more damage than what Mountain Breaker can do. Am I over thinking it?

Yep your way overthinking it since if you have one blunt weapon, one slashing weapon and one elemental weapon you are pretty much good for every fight. Stats don't matter that much to be honest, lvl 1 weapons are about 75% the str as lvl 5 weapons at max upgrade lvl so you could use the warhammer and bandits greataxe at 34 str and clear the game on ng+ pretty easily just use guardian blade (lvl 5 wisdom spell) for double dps and bosses will go down pretty easily.

34 strength can take you through NG+7? Thats what im worried about. that the build will lose its ability to kill enemies effectively if i stick to just any 3 weapons.

Well for most effectiveness you should get some healing spells as well but really it's more about how skilled you are rather than what stats you have.
Akeri Jun 17, 2016 @ 12:35am
The healing spells are kinda meh, stack the buffs though, as for stats 50 as stated, 1h-2h is affected by the amount of the stat aswell but all pretty much caps at 50. As for elemetal buffs can get a beastly holy buff in prayers and that kills most things easily, rest can just use papers and oils? or whatever. IS some info floating around somewhere on how stats effect things one melee and magic and 2h vrs 1h.
