A warning for those excited for salt and sacrifice
Guns have been removed entirely, including the gunblade. offhand weapons, dual wielding and thus 2-handing have all been removed as choices. This means you can no longer chain a ground string, to a launcher to gun/spell/crossbow/throwing weapon. Shields cant be wielded at all except with the "vanguard" weapon class which is just a sword+shield and theres no option for a straight sword only.

Spells have been completely removed replaced with "runic arts" (weapon arts). Meaning you get 1 spell per weapon yet they still need their own skill type + the weapon theyre tied to's skill to even be used. This means that every build is effectively forced into 2 trees, 1 for their weapon and 1 for runic arts, either the light or dark tree depending on preference. Build variety is killed by these 2 changes.

The map which was large and labyrinthine has been replaced with 5 seperate areas. Having the player navigate based on landmarks and get lost for hours before finding a familiar place again was an incredibly bold and most likely polarizing decision but i wouldnt have it any other way. The new version is just downright insulting.

Covenants/creeds, arguably the best part of the first game, the thing it did undeniably better than the souls series ever did... has been turned into the same half baked system from souls, now each one is tied to a multiplayer role. The old system rewarded investment in the long term and offered rewards thatd cater to your build. You had to weigh decisions like betraying your covenant or attacking another to have a stronger checkpoint in exchange for another covenant's consumables and shops. It was a very well made system and now its just a matter of pvp or coop of some form, something which 80% of the playerbase ignores and ultimately doesnt affect a run at all. I'm glad the game has netplay and will enjoy both pvp and coop but it shouldve been its own system.

The sphere grid leveling system, which was the worst part of the first game is now somehow worse, the trees dont overlap at all removing any decisions from the process and due to the removal of so many options there's not much reason to spend into variety anyway, overall just a really bad iteration of the system.

Weapons have gained 1 or 2 moves per class so theyre not making up for this consolidation to melee combat and some classes have been totally left forgotten with very limited movesets. The sequel is just very disappointing it feels gutted and theres far less reason to replay the game now since every build feels the same.

you are very far behind on that.
this is all known.

and you are als wrong. the skilltree wasnt bad at all in the first, just anti handholding.

so nice copypasta probally from a reddit post, cause these things are all mentioned on the epic release already

no im still ahead by 6 months, most people dont watch trailers or watch other people play through games cause they dont want to spoil the game before playing it...

also the problem with the skill tree has nothing to do with understanding it, it says exactly what it does. The problem is that it literally rail roads you into paths, if 2 attributes you want arent near each other making your ideal build may very well be impossible. on top of that weapon skills are largely useless since most tier 3-5 weapons come too late or require too much grinding to be worth getting the skills for on a single playthrough. so were forced to assume those are for ng+ which most players dont even play or theyre just meant to be tedious and thus upgrading your weapon instead has more value.

most cringy take ever.
you play games with guides and cannot think for yourself.
thats fine, but even more lieing is not.

maybe learn to use the search function. 90% of your copypasta was already mentioned in this forum on the epic release. you are slow and late and ignorant.

just shush.

No you can though, nothing I've typed is copied from anyone and I explicitly said I dont look up anything about a game, that covers your mention of a guide and of searching a forum but you still posted it anyway, weird.

Instead of lying, go for it, link a post. This is embarrassing.

But whatever, I'm still early.

You explained a bunch of stuff and all these complains but they don't actually mean anything because I have no idea what is said or why it's even bad. I don't care about having a gun, I'd prefer not to anyways.

I don't know what "chain a ground string, to a launcher to gun/spell/crossbow/throwing weapon". I don't even know what that means so the fact that I can't do that means nothing to me because I never planned on even trying to do that.

"Shields cant be wielded at all except with the "vanguard" weapon class which is just a sword+shield and theres no option for a straight sword only" I hardly use shields even when it is an option, you can still dodge.

"Spells have been completely removed replaced with "runic arts" (weapon arts)." Once again you were worried about something unimportant. I bought this game without the thought of using spells as an option. Sounds like something I just wouldn't use anyways.

"The map which was large and labyrinthine has been replaced with 5 seperate areas"

There shouldn't even be a map in lot of metroidvania games. Especially if it's a game that takes place underground or labyrinthine-like then why would there even be a map for places like that? Who makes the maps, the enemies? Guess the enemies don't want you to get lost in their home.
