This game is basically a side scroller version of dark souls.

Looks like one, doesn't play like one. It's more a mix of Metriovania and Dark Souls

not really i used to think like this but the more i played it the more this game looked more a metroidvania than anything.

People here speak like DS wasnt more or less a 3rd person metriodvania with RPG stat...

There´s some clear influences from the old Souls games, but I personally feel they mixed it up well enough to make it an flattering homage rather than a rip-off.
