Where to find a "Stone Alchemist"?

Hey guys,

I'm watching out for an alchemist in order to transform my greatsword.

Where do I actually find the first one?

after defeating the False Jester, go talk to the Jester that will give you the mark, after that go to the right to the first weird black tower you see after defeating the False Jester then "inverse gravity" with the wierd black tower and go right (when your gravity turn to normal go left) and pick up the stone.

the above is the first stone idol you can find. however the absolute earliest alchemist is found in the stone roots sanctuary which is right below the alchemist boss fight. you have to join thier creed to make use of him. so it will cost around 1000-2000 salt to cleanse your sin afterwards and return to your previous creed (if you want to).

this the absolute earliest point to transform anything on a first playtrough. its available right after beating sodden knight if you explore the shaded woods enough. no other boss is needed to be defeated.

however the only options for greatsword transform at this point are : shrouded bulwark and chitin obelisk. the later is superior due to beeing able to upgrade it all the way to mk 6 already. plus it has better scaling with str overall. the bulwark doesnt require extra farming but is not upgradeable by much. but if you upgrade your kurai to mk 3 you can switch it to bulwark and get bulwark to mk 4 aswell by useing the saltness farm method to get drowned lockets. however that is it then for a good while. as drowned censers are not available until a fair bit later.
