End-Game Broken Shield?

Hello,

My friend finished the game some time ago and adviced me to not play the game because you'll end up faceroll the content once you get a certain shield that allowes you block 99.9% of every single attack in game.
Now, i have no idea what the f he was talking about, please shed some light on the matter.
Is there a broken shield that allows you to faceroll the game?

It's not exactly limited to just a shield. Lots of stuff has faceroll potential.

Golem Rampart Shield once fully upgraded can be used to facetank the whole game. All boss can be blocked with it, in fact everything but the rare grab attack in the game will be wholly stopped by it. Put on the Lamprey armor and things will kill themselves by attacking you. The thing is heavy as hell so you need a lot of carry weight investment but once you can carry it then its gg ez. I HEAVILY advise against using it because half the fun of the game is beating the bosses by learning them. There are also dozens of weapons and armor you can use. You can also make your character with built in limitations at creation like no armor, only using a specific weapon, no healing, no magic, no block and hardcore mode. Bunch of fun stuff you can do. Just like any game of this type there are ways to make the game easy and ways to make it hard. Personally a fist only challenge is what I like to do when I feel like bashing my head against a wall.

Tower shields are indeed very unbalanced. That’s why if you intend to play the game, don’t invest in shield (I’d recommend going up to lvl 2 shield for a certain boss by using a certain shield)
A lot of weapons are also very broken, great weapons, some end game magic, etc.

If you want a fair challenge, I’d say go for a dagger build, spear or polearm.
Great weapons if you want to have some fun and not have too much trouble finishing the game.
Tower shields if you want to hold block every 3 seconds for 15 min
