Kureimoa
I really like this weapon (I've using it since I've found it in the Village of smiles). Now it's Level 4. Is it necessary to transmute it or I can beat the game with the original one? I play as a heavy-armored Paladin with some prayers (level 1-2). Another question: if I buy a non-upgraded Kureimoa from a blacksmith, can I transmute it? How does upgrading affect transmutation?

You definitely can beat the game with it if you continue upgrading it, but you can turn it into better greatswords if you transmute it. If you want to keep it, just buy another one to transmute (if you are in a creed that sells them).

Not an expert regarding transmutation, but from observing the transmutations I made during two playthroughs, if you transmute a leveled up weapon, the resultant weapon will be one level lower than the original, that is, if you transmute your lv 4 sword into another one, the new sword will be level 3.

Thanks a lot. I've just bought another Kureimoa, upgraded and transmuted it into the Shrouded Bulwark, level III. A brilliant sword, though it lacks some attack range IMHO.

Hm... As I understand, not only greataxes have differences in the range. Will be useful to test it. If you have some swords, for example, or one-handed maces, or something else, try out different ones.

Now, except 2 greatswords, I have a default mace for a paladin, which has an extremely short range, and a haymaker, though it's too weak because of my poor Dexterity. If I find a good two-handed axe/hammer, maybe I'll try it, because it'll be good to have a really long-ranged melee weapon, and AFAIR greathammers/greataxes' damage depends on Strength.
