I'm going full on Dex this time. I am not looking forward to he husk fight. But i am gonna get slaughtered by those skeletons. But then i tought about how the caverns are pretty much out of the way of everything. So are the caverns optional? Can i skip that entire pain in the ass?

nope... You need the key for the swamp and them the red shift thing.

PS: I killed the husk very easily with dagger just need to use a combination of fire charm and blessed pages
PS2: The skeletons are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with any build :D

Actually you can skip the boss(if my memory is right, been a while since last time i played this game)
All you need to do is having a brand that allow you to walk on fog, and take the lowest route on that cave until you reach the fog. But you'll miss the swamp area and other(1) brand by doing this

you can't proceed to the low levels without the red shift. The entrances are blocked for the red bars

Actually, redshift is optional. I was able to get to the lake without it (without killing the husk and the mire boss). Killed the Coveted from the other side, but I suppose it is optional as well.

If i not wrong you need the shift to open the path from the side. The side you mean that optional boss?

If i not wrong you need the shift to open the path from the side. The side you mean that optional boss?

You don't need it at all to beat the game if you take the pitchwoods route once you have dart jump. It leads to siam lake without having to go through the ruins. Not a single red wall impedes game progression.

Best way I've found to deal with those skeletons is a pistol. The Tier3 pistol has bonus holy damage and turns those skeletons inside out with only a couple of shots.

lightning arc kill them with 2 hits but you have to be really fast xD
