Trinity does seem to stagger more.
To wield 2 handed weapons 1 handed you need the next rank in sword mastery. So for a rank 4 sword to be wielded 1 handed you need rank 5 in sword mastery. Mastery maxes out at rank 5, so rank 5 greatswords can only be used 2 handed.
I think they figured health leech would be relevant, but forgot to do anything silly like giving it a large enough value to be relevant.
The damage difference is quite small. Little over 2%.
The trinity sword benefits more than scharfricter from elemental buffs, enough to easily offset the difference. (Not the weight though, IMO.)
