Missing Son Quest Seems Broken

I've been down in the pit, defeated the monster and got the kid out of the cage. However, I still have a green dot over the hole in the ground and it's still on my quest list. I went back to the woman, and all she says is that she senses something "dark" from me. I don't see the kid wandering around outside, and I went back down into the pit to talk to the guy again. he just says something along the lines of, "you did it kid." I went back out of the pit the long way, but my checkpoint, green dot, and quest are still there. What am I missing?

You must have sacrificed the kid on the forest altar, check your achievements for a "secret" achievement. You can still continue the game (because the entryway to the red cave is now unblocked), but you'll have to play without the sword spin move.

Thanks, Nick! This was driving me crazy. I did find Kali (unsure of name) when wandering around looking for brothers, but I didn't realize the sacrifice was the kid. Can you ever access him Kali again if you didn't kill him, because he killed you instead? Is there any benefit to beating him, or can he be beat? My suggestion for avoiding confusion, would be to "x" out the quest and green dot if the kid gets sacrificed. I was spinning in circles for hours. Thanks again!

You only get 1 chance to beat the bad version of the forest god once it's released. Buuuut.... if you don't sacrifice the kid and do choose the sorcerer/island path, you can come back and desecrate the altar another way and fight the boss when you're a lot stronger.

The only benefit to killing that boss is extra xp (a lot) and a secret achievement.

Also, while I'm thinking of it. I've had 3 of the xp munchers all this time, but I never coluld figure out how to use them on the altar. Can I not do it since I sacrificed the kid accidentally?

Yeah, once you anger the forest god, it won't reward you for other "good" sacrifices anymore :-D
