Windows XP?
Will I be able to play this on windows XP? I know the requirements say windows 7 or newer, but some games say that and works on my PC, so I'm just wondering if this is the case.

Also, I have Direct X9. Will this also be a problem?

You can try on XP as long are you're running the 64 bit.

The game calls for Direct X 10.x for use with the shader model v4
DX9 as far as i know has shader model 2.0 and 3.0

You might get a black screen or an error upon launching the game.

Luckily you don't need to be rich to move past 2001 like you should have years ago.

Windows XP is super old. its not about being rich. You just haven't bought a computer in 10 years. It would be surprising if you can even run games made in the last 6 years.

$100 is being rich now?

Damn, with all the 'tax the rich!' talk going on I guess I should be more concerned!

(FYI: You don't need to buy a new PC to reload it with a new OS)
(FYI 2: Windows 10 will be free for owners of Windows 7 and 8)

Good news guys! I can run the game lol
The game is writen with VS 2010 and DX9, no surprise that it runs on XP...
Plus, some of Win7 users have to enable WinXP compatibility mode for the game to stop it from crashing.

On Windows XP 32-bits? Pretty cool news as I'm sure there are still some people using Windows XP still.

It has VC++ 2010 in the redistributables, but it is actually using VC++ 2012.
The graphics rendering is written with OpenGL 3.3
The game is probably only using DirectX 9 for sound and input.

DirectX 10.1 is apparantly only mentioned in the requirements as a reference point, because cards supporting that DirectX hardware level are most likely to also support OpenGL 3.3.

On 32bit XP here as well and it runs alright minus a freeze I keep getting during the first map. Can't tell if this is due to the RAM limitations or not but plan on testing it in 7 for a while and see if I still get the same issue there.

As for the >XP implying smartasses, out of my entire bloody library only a handful don't function under XP regardless of what minimum requirements are. Hell, for some I actually need it since those can't into my 7.
