Chat in Multiplayer

I don't know if I'm like the stupidest player on here or something, but I cannot figure out how to chat in a multiplayer game. Is there like a hotkey or something because I cannot figure this out.

Yeah, just hit Enter to use the in-game chat. Took me a while to figure out as well, until I asked someone in the game's group chat how to do it. So, you're not the stupidest player on here, since I'm equally stupid.

(Oh, and there's no need to level up and buy the ability to chat. Of course, I'm sure you were just joking, raqyee.)

Just hitting enter isn't enough. You also have to thank our lord and savior poppo for letting us use the chat feature.

you can chat even if you're level 1, raqyee was either making a really bad joke, misinformed or trolling ya. everyone else has given you the correct info. you can also click on the little ellipses icon in the upper right hand corner and then hit enter after typing yr message.

I think my chat isn't work properly. Anytime I play on multiplayer people are being friendly with each other and laughing together. I haven't seen a single "uninstall n00b"or "stop feeding Yuki, ♥♥♥♥♥♥" or "go back to Mario Party you <insert slur here>* after having played dozens of games.

Anyone knows what could be happening? Are there any fixes for this gamebreaking bug?

Well, there actually is no indication in the game that one should press enter to chat, so it's not a surprise that someone doesn't know how.

It's common sense. There is absolutely no excuse for not knowing it and don't pretend otherwise. Also I'm pretty sure you can you just just click on the chat box and do it that way too.

Since when was "press enter to chat" intuitive? Just because it was used in some games before doesn't mean people can figure this out on their own.

Heck, the only reason I had to try it was because I'd played Age of Empires before and knew it from there.

Didn't know clicking on the chat box worked -- I'll try checking that out later.

First thing I tried was T, Y, and Tab for chat, actually. But Enter is a pretty common key too.

Actually, before I learned that I needed to hit Enter, I remember trying to click on the chat box, and that didn't work for me.
