QP is flexible thanks to her average stat scores and tbh pretty nice hyper. Unlike some characters hypers who are highly luck based or very specific, QPs is a great crutch so to speak and can be used both offensively and defensively.
Also I think you've had really bad luck. I used to main QP and won with her fairly often.
You will struggle on campaign no matter who you pick.
Marc has good stats for a new player
Suguri is good, but might be too weak against hard hits for a newcomber
QP's campaign is hell
You won't have cards to capitalize on Kai having a worse hyper than QP, and Marc just has overall good stats and hyper. Plus Yuki is basically another Tomomo during the final campaign level.
Should be in terms of difficulty for newer players - Kai > Marc > QP > Suguri, with Kai being the easiest. (New players can farm Kai's first map for stars for better cards, too.)
she has a good balance of stats and a great hyper as many have said, she is best in that she really is not based in anything, average all around lets you develop a play style.
By the end of her campaign i went from knowing nothing of the game (at all, no not reading the manual either) to knowing pretty much everything (i admit i still didn't understand card level requirements until i realised later).
When i had played a fair bit and had some fun online, i realised Suguri was most fun, but mainly due to me liking her and of course, she is built to kill over star collecting, which i had grown to enjoy, nothing like beating down people you struggled with earlier in other characters campaigns right? (die Tomomo!!).
Ahem, anyway, i feel she worked great for a starting character, i learned a lot, most others have stats which vary and make for different play styles, this isn't bad but when you come around to someone who is more for kills over stars, you think the game is about kills, so star hunting doesn't work. In short, QP lets you trial all area's of playing, and can fall back on her hyper, making the game easier as if you have troubles from people killing you, the hyper can save your stars, or just let you take a gamble here and there.
The reason say QP is the easiest is because she's generally one of the most flexible characters in the game, bassically she's your typical neutral starter character that's pretty much a Jack of all Trades. Also I always pay more attention to the general stats, hence why I chose Kai for my first campaign, (Amusingly he's the protagonist of the game).
The main reason why QP's campaign is hell is because she ave unfortunate stages and character combinations (Especially the Yuki + Tomomo for her final stage).
Suguri is only difficult to play as because of people's ignorance... (Also I see Suguri as a Farmer over a Fighter, especially since people would advise you to take advantage of your +2 evasion early game, since the risk is very minimal, and take the time to try to collect Accels to use for defensive purposes. Actually, if you don't know what you're doing you really shouldn't be playing Suguri aggressively.)
To be honest when I got the game I thought QP was the protagonist, considering she is also the first character in the selection screen and though Kai was just some random character, it took me a lot of time to actually see he is the "protagonist".
When playing the Demo, you got to play as Kai, actually. That's why he was my first character.
