100% buy-worthy if you haven't played any of the other games before. Same case here, only knew about the existence of the previous games by trying to figure out how to obtain some of the non-DLC characters and seeing that there are a ton of games featuring them.

seconded. can recommend the game even if you've not tried the other games, since usually people try OJ first and then try out the other games after. that's what i did, anyway.

This was the first orange_juice title I bought. 3k hours later I still don't know whats going on.

All you need to know:
-Cute girls doing cute things (like war crimes).
-Seagulls.
-Poppo always wins.

The game is basically free now anyway. Really nothing to lose.

VNs? I think there is only one of those...most of the games are Shmups or shmup-adjacent vs games (think Senkou no Ronde / Genso Rondo).

I would bet money that 90-99% of the 2million downloads Mio Festive was released to celebrate have never played a single Orange Juice game before 100%OJ. Myself included.

This was the first OJ game I ever played as well. Got it on sale in 2015 since it looked cute and interesting, and then I eventually tried out many of the other OJ games such as Suguri and Flying Red Barrel. So yeah, you can totally play 100% OJ without having played any of the other OJ games first.
